Another late goal, brought on by us sitting deeper and inviting them on

With that midfield, what did you expect? Fergie needs more than 1 or 2!

We did ok for 59 minutes, but bringing Kongolo on when we've retreated into our shell was totally the wrong substitution, and don't get me started on Mandevile's lack of effort

All the subs were baffling. Let's change the defensive set-up with less than ten minutes to go, not a good call. Ferguson plainly failing to learn from the same mistakes time after time after bloody time.

The substitutions were a response to Oldham's change of tactic and they were going for it. The one sub that baffled me was Mande - not a lad to be in the trenches with. If we had better midfielders, we could have made better changes but we simply don't have any!

This is basically what we said on the way home. Draw was a fair result, but each substitution made us worse as a team, first 2 were players coming on that weren't right for the situation, then the third unbalanced is defensively. Keep Garrett on and take beestin off.

Garrett took a heavy blow to the head in the first half and he was out on his feet when he came off. With Toffolo gone, he's our only available left-back!

Ok, so if they we're going for it, why do you sub Whiteman who had a good game, put some tackles in, for Kongolo who has very little defensive attributes?

For me, tinkering with the defensive shape, even given they brought a big fella on, was the wrong thing to do because it's the supply line out wide that caused the problem.

Whiteman didn't have a good game. He was woeful in the first half, but improved loads in the second.

We played quite well I thought. Some young players are really improving.

I thought that considering the youthful age of that team they did well and I am happy to support this development strategy . We have been unlucky with our left flank players for sure Andrew, Kiwomya and now Toffolo out with serious injuries . It looks  like Garrett and Amos are to get accelerated development now !!!! When is McCullough due back ?
I agree about late goals syndrome but it invariably starts with slackness further upfield conceding the ball as it did again today .
        Lawlor 8 Garratt 6 Butler 8 Wright 7 Mason 6 Houghton 7 Whiteman 6 Rowe 7 Beestin 7 Marquis 7 May 7  .

We all knew that goal was coming, sad but true.

And agreed, Oldham played some lovely stuff but Lawlor didnt have too much to do. I thought a draw was fair.

mentally weak?

I swear I thought you meant some of our "supporters" who post on here.

Our team is a work in progress, we are a couple of players away from the finished article.

Until we get these players in best you grow a pair and stop moaning.

Merry Xmas everyone

Oldham looked a great footballing side when they were passing it sideways on the half way line. Some of our phases of play, especially in the first half, when we recycled the ball 4 or 5 times when attacking was excellent. We are far from a bad side.

Well you MrFrostsdad can be as miserable as you like. You must get loads of enjoyment out of sitting there at the Keepmoan.

From my pov I'm getting the feeling this team is on the verge of talking off. One more year and then Beestin & Mandeville, Garrat & Mason, Lawlor & Wright & Ben Khemis will be full grown men instead of youths playing mans football.

We'll have Andrew, McCulloch and Kiwomya back. All these will make us stronger.

We'll still have Blair, Baudry, Marquis & Rowe and hopefully Houghton. All these are good enough for top six in this league.

Butler is still performing at a very high level making a mockery out of all those who said he was finished.

So if we can add a right back who can get into some attacking positions and a partner for Big John we'll be more or less complete.

He enjoys it but only when we lose, so he can come on here and tell everyone he was right.

Do you know what Dickos, I reckon that more people disagree with everything you post on here than anyone else who can be bothered to contribute. I've never, ever in all my life seen comments so blinkered as yours. I reckon you're doing one for DF!
I take no pleasure whatsoever in seeing us get beat and playing the absolute garbage we have in many games this season. Everything this points to is the step up in divisions has been a bit too much for us.
Now it maybe some signings in January will make a big difference, I hope it does. Until then, I'll stick by my opinion we are not very good at this level. And I reckon the majority of people who watch us will agree with that.
Now we hear we have a top 8 budget or thereabouts, but we're certainly not performing like a top 8 team. That is down to the quality of players brought in by the manager. Danny Andrew is a big miss for us granted, but would the others who have been out long term make that much difference?? Etheridge? No, because having signed him Ferguson has no intentions of playing him. Kiwomya? No idea. McCullough? Maybe, maybe not

I look at this team and it reminds me of the team that got relegated, with Brian Deane, Rufus Brevitt,Paul Raven, Mark Rankine etc. All good young players that went on to better things, losing narrowly most weeks.
They just weren't experienced enough for the league that they were playing in. Three or four decent additions and we would have stayed up that year. Let's hope that we learn from history because whichever way you look at it we need to improve, fitness, injuries and experience in or before January.
