In fairness, the opening poster has had to put up with stick on here all season for pointing out that the walls weren’t falling in around us. So I think a little gloating about the fact that we’re doing okay is more than reasonable, there has been plenty of revelling in poor form. It all comes in swings and roundabouts. We are perennially one or two games from a crisis. We’ll lose a few again at some point and normal service will be resumed.
I think there's a difference between "pointing out the walls aren't falling in" and blind unwavering optimism.Of course all posts are somewhere on a sliding scale, and some have been ridiculous... but is questioning some of the manager's decisions and expressing frustration at the team's capabilities not allowed?
.....And equally, would Dickos have started this thread in order to provoke them, had we lost?
When Darren Ferguson publicly announces in post-match interviews that the team were poor, is he revelling in poor form?

I’m not sure who the question is being asked to there. Equally I don’t think this kind of exchange would ever crop up if it was merely a case of expressing frustrations or questioning the manager’s decisions on occasion. It’s very easy to forget what a toxic environment the likes of this forum (and even moreso Facebook / Twitter) become after a bad result or two. It all goes way way over the top. And if someone has the audacity to attempt to redress the balance, they are rounded upon as if they’re a deluded fool! Personally I think the opening poster could be forgiven for questioning who the fools actually are. It’s simply a point of fact that some posters are particularly quiet because we’ve done okay lately. Are we really to believe that the Frosts wouldn’t have been on here if, for example, we’d just lost three without scoring?

Good result today against a terrible side. Do I still want Ferguson out... yes. But it can wait for another day. Up the rovers

Are we really to believe that the Frosts wouldn’t have been on here if, for example, we’d just lost three without scoring?Nobody in particular. Don't really tend to post for a response, just generally throwing ideas out there.I agree it can be toxic, but I don't think people who post a balanced view or just their honest opinions at that point get "rounded on" particularly. I think it's just those who won't accept anyone else's point of view, and will vehemently and pedantically argue the toss with anyone who expresses an opinion that disagrees with their worldview that everything Donny Rovers do on the pitch is bloody amazing and that the manager is untouchable no matter what happens. (Or the opposite).I can see both sides but I don't think dickos does himself any favours getting so wrapped up in what other people think all the time. He spends so much of his time fighting petty arguments and laying into other posters that he then feels the need to justify himself when we get some results that vaguely fit in with his perspective.I think people would rather enjoy the wins we are getting than have people trying to antagonise. Same goes for when we get beat - yes the same old "told you so" posters will surface and that is equally as annoying when most folk would rather just chat and debate honestly about how the team has played.Unfortunately I think it's human nature that people are quicker to jump up and complain than they are to put themselves out there when things are great. That's one of the reasons why I am sceptical about reviews on Amazon/TripAdvisor and the like - I think people are more likely to surface and put their view forward if they've had a bad experience than a good one. Folk just like to get their complaints off their chest. It can be annoying but I think it's just a mentality thing generally.FWIW I have put forward frustrations and concerns about the manager and the team in the past, but equally I try to balance things up and give credit where it's due, and have never once called for the Fergie's head. I'm just as delighted as the next Rovers supporter that we seem to have turned a corner.
Where have I ever attempted to suggest I'm a better fan?Do you also post like this when the negative bunch come on here after every defeat saying they told you so?No you don't. As Jonathon pointed out earlier I've taken stick week in week out when the side was getting beat so what's wrong in giving it back. Only last week I was called a cretin and a cnut, just for being positive.Didn't see you commenting then

It seems that plenty of people share your positivity but they don't get the same "stick" - what's that tell you?

Only one or two I can think of, easily ignored. You miss my point though dickos. My point is you aren't being positive at all. 90% of your posts recently aren't supporting the team, but just digging out other posters, calling them negative and condescending them when really all that's happening is people letting off steam after a frustrating defeat. You take this shit so personally. If you're at the point where you're taking names of people who comment, or don't comment and when, you probably need to step away from the internet for a while. It isn't very positive.

I get stick because when the negative nonsense gets posted most people ignore it, I should also. I agree. Your post is all what I do, but if you actually read the posts it's me just giving a different view and then getting abuse. If you read what Johnathan has put then this is exactly how I see it.
This is nonsense, 90% of my posts aren't digging other people they're giving a different viewpoint.

Why? 'forum admin' have been liking dickos posts so apparently they're enjoying this just where it is.Are you implying this thread is not a simple contrasting opinion on football as he claims?
