Lawlor 8 ( thankyou mate ), Mason 7 reliable as ever , Alcock 7 dependable , Whiteman 6 tried hard , Kongolo 4 negative passes , Coppinger 4 and two of those points are for old times sake , Rowe 6 , Garrett 6, Marquis 6, Beestin 6 Blair 5.
We have no captaincy on the field !

Would Alcock have got a 10 if he didn't give 2 of their goals to them?

Sorry but I had a genuine chuckle at that.

We miss Butler. He's our only real leader, commands the defence and is a hell of a defender at this level.

To lose Wright with Butler and Baudry already missing was catastrophic. The defence needs sorting in what’s left of the transfer window, simple as that. Otherwise I thought we played some decent stuff and no complaints at all with the effort and intent.

Thought Whiteman did really well in the middle. Beestin was good again, Marquis lead the line and deserved his goal. On another day we could have scored a fair few but we didn’t and left ourselves too much to do with the hapless defending.

No issues with the performance here, the hard work now needs to be done on recruitment as we cannot manage with this defensive crisis.

Mandeville did well when he came on. Always giving an option to pass to and links up well. I didn't realise May was on the pitch.

Beestin has moments of absolute class, prime Coppinger esq. He’s not as smooth as Copps was but the end result is as good at times. He’s also got the vision of a exceptional player.

To be fair to Alcock, he’s hardly played for months and he’s a full back being asked to play center back. Same with mason. If we don’t address this we are going to concede shed loads over the coming weeks.

Missing simple chances also isn’t helping. They were poor and if JW hadn’t gone off I’m pretty sure we’d have won that quite comfortably

Agree. With the right nurturing he’s going to be a tremendous player.

I agree. Maybe in a couple of years with experience he'll be as good or better than Copps?

I stopped reading after you gave Alcock 7 and dependable. He was Bristol’s best players today.

Beestin was our best player to me, Whiteman did a lot of good stuff bar his finishing and Marquis was good in the first half. Felt a bit sorry for Alcock, thrown in like that suddenly having to lead the defence and got battered by Harrison all game. Garratt did alright too I thought and of course Lawlor with some good saves.

Lawlor doesn't command his area and was at fault for the first goal. 3 guilt edge chances where we should have scored and a midfield who don't know how to go forward. Bristol beat us because when they got the ball then looked to move it forward quickly. We needed to pass it across the park half a dozen times and then pass it to a defender to hoof it forward. Oh for a Ritchie Wellens.

Alcock is a div 2 player, at best, and was on his way this month if Butler and Baudry hadn't been crocked. To rely on him was a mitigated disaster. Got what we deserved!

You say that like we had a choice in the matter of our three first choice centre backs all getting crocked, Alan!

When will the Refereeing crap get sorted , Players not getting their marching orders and penalties not given . Even with our legs tied together we should have beat this shower . It must have been our weakest fielded team ever and without our defence they were still a bag of .... Blair’s miss was just too much to take . Our season has been one calamity after another .

A few points.

Defenders all did their best but tough in that line-up. Centre halves vital no doubt.

Blair excellent but what a miss.

Rowe as ever played well he is our best player imo.

Whiteman had a good game his finishing let him down but he did well.

Kongolo did the job asked and did ok I thought.  Not great or poor but ok.

Coops - as horrible as it is to say it he's been poor now for some time.  Has some good flashes but let's be honest he's becoming a passenger in that position now.

Beestin did well again clearly improving.

Marquis had a good game took his goal well first time and worked as ever.

May - didn't touch the ball did he?

Mandeville lively and linked up well. Still think he's worth a run.

No mention of Marquis's glaring miss that my granny would have scored in the first half?

Whiteman, although not playing badly has to improve his first touch. He gave the ball away in mid field afew times failing to control the ball to feet in the first half.

I'm not distraught considering. There were some positives to take out of the game. There's no point dwelling on the obvious, so let's look at the progression and potential in our young players who are gaining experience in difficult circumstances.

Beestin particularly catches the eye with his all round game, first touch, skill, trickery and even a turn of pace I'd not seen before.

He and Mandeville are players that are still literally growing and they are willing to take people on and have a go. Likewise Whiteman.

Mason and Garrett, really tough for them but you can see they're gradually getting stronger.

None of the above show any dissent or despondency on the pitch, they just get on with it and do their best. Survival this season is massive now and if we succeed these lads will have made a big contribution. It will stand us in good stead next season.

Agree. Lawlor was totally to blame for their first goal, not Allcock

dear oh dear oh dear. Alcock and garratt both getting more than a 2 makes the rest of these ratings are waste of time really. Shame about our defence because them apart we were good today.

I think you got most of that spot on. Bit harsh on Copps though. The pitch doesn't help him and he needs players moving around him to give him options...

I thought Blair was our most dangerous player, and today we learnt that Mason can't head a football. Gave away the 2nd goal and missed a sitter from the 6 yards. Not really convinced by him.

As for "fans favourite" Alfie May.....Kiwomya is fit for next week and that could spell the end for him I'm afraid
