Growing up in Retford I went loads as a kid, also did a bit of work there putting marquees up for Christmas time. It is a bit of a Retford institution (my brother refers to it as 'Retford Disneyland') but to be honest I don't think much to it these days. It is really expensive for what it is, I took my son for his 1st and 2nd birthday and he didn't really enjoy it, we were only there a couple of hours at the most. There is literally nothing for adults there yet you get charged full whack, I would say the main focus is for 4-8 year olds.

We took my lad to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor for his 4th birthday and had a great day for less than what it would cost to get into Sundown. He absolutely loved it and we were there from opening to closing, he would have stayed longer if he could. We are going to take him to Wheelgate Park at White Post roundabout in a few weeks and again that looks good (not been before) and is very reasonably priced - think it is going to cost us £18 for 2 adults and a child.

I wasn't that impressed last time we went. My little ones like Wheelgate and Twinlakes, you can often get offers for both of these places as well

Wheelgate is good for 5+ I'd say. We enjoyed Sundown before that. Only ever went when we got discount vouchers though.

My youngest is 5 and has decided he's too old now for Wheelgate and wants to go to Twinlakes instead

I'm not going to lie the day my kids said they were to old for Sundowner I was gutted as I loved the place..Wheelgate for me is tatty, filthy and rubbish but it's all about opinions..For a 3 year old Sundowner is perfect and I would still recommend it for a day out making memorys

I don't want to go as far as to say it's the only reason I had a child but I always look happier in the photos than he does.

Pets Corner!

Used to love the old Pets corner when my kids were small, and my wife would think nothing of going there several times a year. However when they got rid of all the pets it sort of lost its soul and dint seem the same place. Took my grandson to the Sundown Adventureland last year and was terribly disappointed.

Daughter took the nipper to Sundown and she had a great time, the good thing was that parents/adults were allowed on the rides with the nippers. Would they go back ... yes,

Do you need to take a kid to go on the rides
Loved it there when oldest was little, took the youngest and agree it looks as though it’s stuck in a time warp
