I can only see upside here.

The guy is well regarded by Liverpool. For him to continue his development he has to pull up trees for us otherwise the next step is a transfer (as Rodney K will tell you).

If it doesn't happen then we get someone else in in January.

Or develop a player for 6-9months that isn’t our own.

When I said yesterday “If we sign Kane people on here would be saying WHY” l didn’t actually realise we were about ro sign Kane for real. ( Different Kane of course ) but yes people are still moaning because he is only 19.
Sounds like a hot prospect to me. Have some of you forgotten Lundstrum who we signed from Everton in November 2012 aged 19.  He was excellent and we went on to get promoted that season.

So what?

Fair enough if we were doing that with many players..

Should we never loan players then?

Economics dictate that smaller clubs have to make use of the loan market.
Sometimes it works in favour of the small club when a loanee eventually signs a permanent deal.
It has happened for us.

I hope he turns out to be a good player for us but as is often the case with some of our fans, they don’t give players much leeway.

The last time we got a loanee from a PL club who was a 19 year old captain of his clubs under 23 side he was slaughtered by a section of supporters.

If Gerrard thought he was ready surely he would have signed him himself he’s signed a few already from Liverpool reserves hasn’t he?

Underwhelming. Why couldn’t we sign a proven player?
because they cost a lot of money so that would be a nom starter

Just so long as there's no agreement that he must start so many games i'm happy with it. I'm convinced Kongolo was on that kind of deal which is why we had to keep suffering him.

If he was u23 captain at a club like liverpool he should be good at our level although i think we were saying the same about kongolo so its hard to judge until we see him play

Is he related to Neil Parsley? Or Basil Boli? Or Jonny Oregano?

Ive probably missed someone obvious but have we had anyone on loan from Liverpool in recent times or before even. I can think of players we have had on loan from pretty much every other big prem club but not Liverpool

GazLaz is the new Raggytash. FACT. Amazing the number of moaning buggers before a ball has been kicked in anger. Let's just see how we go. Personally, I think we have a fairly good set of players. McCann seems to know what he wants so I'm looking forward to kick off.

Find me a team who don't loan players in the EFL. It's a necessity for one and you can find good players in the market.

Loaning players is fine and we’ve done well out of it in the past.
Taylor is potentially a good signing
I think grant was waiting for us to come for him but we haven’t so he’s signed for Shrewsbury.

We’re certainly going to have a very youthful side next season

I asked a friend of mine who is a big Liverpool fan and he had this to say:

" had a disappointing 16/17 due to a few injuries but  he was probably one of the more standout players in the U23's last season . Probably the best thing to say about him is despite his age his performances are very mature and calm despite being 19 and I think he'll be able to more than handle himself at a lower league level which I think is always something that can be a concern when loaning players from academy sides."

Can’t understand your thinking gaz, many teams at our level and above get promoted having half a team  of loan players

Come on, don’t compare me with that lunatic. I’m just concerned that’s all. I smell danger this season. I’ll give it ten games or so to assess, hope I’m proved wildly wrong.

There’s a limit on loanees anyway isn’t there?  So they are always going to be a small part of the squad..

This lad sounds a real prospect, hope he’s a big succcess with us..

Haven't seen him play so can't say much either way.  Let's hope he joins the many good loanees we've had and not heard of who did alright;

Jordan Houghton, Ryan Mason, Chris Brown, Connor Grant (first loan), Jordan Mutch, Matt Mills etc etc

Granted he could be the next Kongolo but there's got to be optimism around him.  Certainly adds some depth to the squad, the midfield looks strong.

Sure we had a striker - looked similar to Lewis Guy back in OBV days disappeared after us

I agree we should have our own players but Shrewsbury the ones that don’t spend a lot ?? Had 5 Loaneesin their 11 players last season. It has to be done whether we like it or not. Let’s hope this 19 year old is better than last years 19 year old from another premiership club.
