Oh, go on then...Tom got 51 in 95 appearances (2 in his 95th game). A strike rate of 0.537 to that 51.King Alick made it in 104 appearances nudging Marquis into 5th quickest to his *first* 50, though I haven't checked Tindall and Kitchen.
DUWow! I didn't realise we've never had a player score 20 League goals at a level above the bottom league. Can't be many clubs with that dubious honour.
According to stat just seen he is the 10th player for Doncaster Rovers to score 10 goals in 3 consecutive seasons. Only Billy Sharp in recent times achieved that.
If we can keep him in January he has a chance to be the first Rovers player ever to score 20 league goals in a season at this level. All other players scoring 20 league goals in a season have been at lower levels, either tier 4, conference (Paul Barnes) or regionalised third tier which was effectively tier 3.5.
At a quick skim, I reckon there's 65 current League clubs who have had the top scorer of the season in a league above the bottom one, with that scorer getting 20±http://www.rsssf.com/tablese/engtops.htmlBearing in mind that there will have been loads of players who got 20+ and weren't the top scorer in the division, that suggests that there won't be much more than a dozen or so clubs sharing our distinction.

Quick run through. I reckon that, according to that website (only up to 2007) the current league clubs who have never had a player who scored 20+ and finished top scorer in his division (not including the basement division are:RoversCarlisleOldhamFleetwoodAccringtonWimbledonMK DonsBurtonBarnetCrawleyGillinghamLincolnNewportStevenageForest GreenCreweYeovilMorecambeCambridgeCheltenhamMacclesfield21 clubs, of which 10 have only been in the league for a few years. And presumably there will be several clubs on that list who had players who hit 20+ goals but weren't the division top scorer.
Follow upOn this day in...2002/03, Paul Barnes had 9 (finished with 25)2003/04, Gregg Blundell's had 7 (19)2006/07, Paul Heffernan had 5 (21)1996/97, Colin Cranberry had 9 (20)Just something to think about for those who reckon Marquis hasn't been in top form.
Marquis has 13 goals before the first Advent Calendar choccy has digested. This day in 16/17, he had 10 and he ended up with 27.This day in 17/18, he had 7 and he ended up with 15. Got me thinking. I wonder who our record scorer before Xmas is? I doubt that many will have topped 13 goals in the past 50 years.
