In addition to his fabulous workrate and team ethic, in our 86 and a bit seasons in the Football League John has already

•   Become the first Rovers player to score 20 Football League goals in a season since Peter Kitchen 1976-77, and the highest since Laurie Sheffield with 28 in 1965-66.

•   Scored more goals in his first three seasons at the club than any other player except Tom Keetley (72 in the 1920’s) and Colin Booth (62 in the 1960’s)

•   Become Rovers 17th player to score in five consecutive League games (in 2016-17)

•   Become Rovers 12th player to reach double figures of League goals in three consecutive seasons.

•   Become Rovers 4th player to score 15 goals in all competitions for three seasons in a row after Tom Keetley (1920s), Peter Kitchen (1970s) and Bert Tindill (1950s)

•   Reached 10 League goals in the 17th match of 2016-17 and the 20th this season, the two quickest since Glyn Snodin who scored 10 in the first 16 League games in 1984-85.

•   Become Rovers 11th highest scorer in our League history

But he has the chance to become the FIRST Rovers player to score 20 League goals in a season above the lowest league level, and this is our 38th such season.

Let's hope he will stay with us for at least this season and help contribute to a promotion push.

Comments on Marquis here similar, he's massive for us.  Yes he does some silly things and makes mistakes but he's still superb and on track to be our highest scorer at this level.
