Calling Dutch Uncle

Dutch

Challenge for you.

We have played 114 league games since Marquis joined us.

He has missed 2 games through suspension.

He has played every second of the other 112 games.

Have we ever had another outfield player who hasn't once been substitute, substituted or dropped through bad form over such an extended period?

In all competitions he has only ever been subbed once, in the cup at Charlton a couple of weeks ago.
It is some record.

Also, in all competitions, he's only failed to make the starting line-up once; against Arsenal last season.

Maybe the same fact or maybe different - but he has started every one of his 126 league and cup appearances for Rovers, bar one appearance in league cup where he came on as a sub.

Quite literally the first name on the team sheet.

Isn’t it twice? I’m certain he came off in the final minutes after his hat trick at Grimsby?

May be wrong though.

Would be logical to get him off to a great ovation

Tbh I thought we should have taken him off today - not because of his display but I thought he was going to get sent off

Is it time to revisit again who is on what bookings - and the perennially confusing deadline for them to be erased? There were several ‘usual suspects’ booked today.

According to Soccerbase.

Whiteman. 9
Kane. 8
Butler, Mason, Wright. 6

Got to resign ourselves to losing the top 2 to 2 match bans before the March amnesty.

There is a reason for that is Whiteman and Kane are the only two midfield that tackle and put their foot in we saw that again today. After they were booked, Whiteman was a silly one, they went in to their shell. Until Rowe, Blair and May came on then those three put in more tackles than the players they replaced.

Steve.

That's nonsense. Crawford did and excellent job of tracking back and tackling. And we only play 3 midfielders.

You can’t blame Kane and Whiteman for being overly cautious after their bookings.
Scunny were bossing the midfield and only 2-0 behind.
Had we gone to ten men it could have given them a better chance of getting to 2-1 and then who knows what might have happened.

Not blaming hound and can see the reason they did it.  But they are doing week on week.

Billy I know we have three midfield players and Crawford was better today but for me it’s not enough. Especially when he has Wilks in front who does no tracking back at all.

bens needs to take a yellow, get a ban whilst are on this so called easier run of games so he is back for when Kane reaches 10 bookings... tactical cynicism. A good chance for rowe to get some minutes in, or Blair to continue his consistent season so far.  The bench is deffo looking stronger than it has in a long while..

“Take a yellow “ Paul Barnes in a league match so he would miss a F A Trophy match, in front of the main stand, kicking towards the Rosso end . He was nearly laughing when the ref showed him the card
