Villa v Leeds
« on December 23, 2018, 03:29:39 pm by Campsall rover »
I know all you Leeds haters won’t be happy but what a fantastic advert for Championship football that match was. Two teams going flat out for victory for 95 mins. Hope Rovers are playing at that level next season. Looking forward to going to Villa Park again. Don’t think we will be visiting Elland Road as I think this is their year and will go up automatically.

Still hoping they will implode at some point and turn on themselves. Failing that some cruel concoction of results on final day puts them in the play offs which they then lose on a disputed last minute penalty decision.

I would have thought that yesterday would put you off last minute goals.☹️

Paul, a good game to watch because both defences were dire, especially the Villa, on the day they were not as organised as us, and to give a goal away from a throw in 90 yards from your goal, well very poor.
On that showing I will be very surprised if any of those teams get automatic promotion.
Leeds were definitely the fitter of the two teams.

Leeds looked very good, and have done all season. I think they’ll get auto promotion at a canter

I went to it. Decent game. Decent atmosphere as well. We’ve got to be hoping to get promoted to the championship to going to places like that away from home. Best league in the world currently I think.

Did sky show the world’s worst pitch invader?

No Padge, but I would lay money that the winning goal would not have been scored against Oxford, they would have kicked someone off their feet in their own half at that stage of the game, they may even not have got the ball to take the throw in.  That goal was amateurish.

... AND the opposition Player takes it - hits the left Post then the right Post and then hits the Keeper on the back and rolls over the Line. Usually that is my Man U dream but it works for "them" as well !

Some people accept that more people support Leeds from Donny than support Rovers better than others.
Cannot see them not going up, what other 2 teams will stay consistent enough?

Good to see a Yorkshire team doing so well and with a good chance to play PL next season, go Leeds

Thing it’s not good for DRFC it just means even more Leeds fans from Donny and kids potentially choosing them over us

There's no answer to that Padge but it must happen all over the country, if DR plays well the crowds will come, and they are playing well in a new stadium with a great management team.

Got to agree with you - it's a fact of life. They are a bigger Club by a long way than most of their competition in The Championship and eventually a perfect storm will see them up

People (like me I have to say) who dislike them with a passion should prepare for the inevitable. I was hoping that Bielsa would go to Man U but that is probably unlikely - and so "they" seem to be going to do it this time

My secondary scenario is that they do unfortunately go up this season, but more pleasingly they spend next season getting humiliated, game in, game out, finishing with some record low points total.

Like many I take some pleasure when Leeds fail - how the mighty have fallen etc - but they are a club that could and probably should be a premier league mainstay..

As for local kids following other teams, with sky coverage these days how many claim
To support Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool etc..

Family, friends, and results on the pitch will be where we get more supporter numbers..

Anyway, it’s christmas eve..

Happy Christmas everyone.!

Shouldn't this be located in off topic? Or maybe we could create a whole section dedicated to Leeds United matters?

A "perfect storm" is not a good thing, so yes I certainly hope Leeds experience one this season!

Could just go to the LUFC forum or set up a separate folder called ‘Donny Shites’.

Merry Christmas rovers fans!!

Really couldn't care less if they got promoted or not.
Irrelevant.

All I put was on the Villa v Leeds thread was what a great game it was with two teams going flat out for a win for 95 mins.
I didn’t realise it would start a barrage of hate replies about Leeds.
You complain about Leeds fans being abusive. Some of the comments on here are exactly that. To be honest I think it is quite pathetic.
Just concentrate on supporting Rovers and don’t let Leeds having a bit of success spoil your Christmas.

I'm Rovers through and through, but would like to see another Yorkshire club in the premier league, and Leeds look good enough to do it.

The owner is in financial trouble, and is saying he would sell out part of the club to the fans. Another couple of seasons like the Wednesday losing pots of money wont  hurt them.
Let them stay where they are.

Wednesday have just overspent, so theyve lost money but it’s been their choice to spend it.

seem to remember the owner of that other club in the $chitty being in financial trouble (spaghetti junction style inter-related companies - i call it domino companies) was it ten years ago and the phrase "prince with no money being banded about"

the owner would have spent a hell of a lot more money but he respected fair play rules -even though he got hit  with the ban

whist a certain relocated club formerly on the south coast thought to hell and went for broke

on the subject of Leeds if they make the premiership there will be good loanees to come here --
i am sure a lot more loanees come from Leeds -than the Sheffield clubs put together -over the last few years.
