Wilks

It has just popped up on the club’s Facebook page that Wilks is staying on for the rest of the season. Brilliant news

Quite a few posters on here were very wide of the mark when assessing his perceived potential just a couple of weeks ago then.
Congratulations to our staff for working and getting Herbie and Mallick deals across the line.  Let's hope for good news about the players we want to resign long term now, I am sure the club will be working hard towards that end.

Morning selby.
Yep, people see players differently don’t they.
That is the nature of the beautiful game.

I have liked what I have seen from Wilks this season so far, in the main that is of course.
As a young player he will have inconsistent performances.

He's defo got talent, hopefully he realises he can sometimes pass to them lads in red and white but he offers something different to anyone else in our squad.

Great news.

As frustrating a player he can be, he gets goals. We’ve needed players like him over the last few seasons. Someone who’ll go get 15 or so goals to add to Marquis’ tally and take the pressure off.

Him and Marquis are on around 25 goals between them this season half way through.

Positive. We’d miss his pace, physicality and attitude, he’s been a great foil for Marquis so far. Let’s hope we can see more better games from him in the run in.

Theres no doubt he has pace, power and strength, it’s his decision making that he needs to work on, but personally I’ve seens signs fecently that that part of his game is improving

I remember seeing them selby.
Perhaps some posts were due to us having one or two dodgy performances.
People do make knee jerk reactions sometimes.

He has really taken scalpel to the squad these last few months. McCullough, Mandeville, Beestin and Kiwomya all shipped out on loan with Ben Khemis gone for good. Kane, Wilks, Smith and Sadler ties down for rest of season (and some beyond). A more mobile and dynamic set of players.

Interestly,Wilkes has got 5 assists for us this season,Marquis has 0.

Edit: having said that,I just watched video of wilkes goals, and Marquis clearly tees the ball up for Wilkes in his goal against Scunny?

In most games, Marquis “assists” for the whole 90 mins..

This. To be fair to JM he doesn’t get direct assists much but his movement and work rate make it a hell of a lot easier for others. The way he petrifies defenders is an assist on its own.

His pace is his asset. Surprised Leeds are giving him so long. I'm not sure he'll make the step up even with us if we do it.

If Marquis was passing to himself (can’t of course) he would have far more assists.

Anyone worried that we are signing more loans than permanent signings.

No we need players to meet the goal of top six if we achieve Championship football the 3 young loanees could stay with us on loan. I would like to see a couple more 1 for midfield and a 1 utility defender unless we buy of course. We have to many nearly men who we are paying wages to now. In summer they’ll be gone I hope.

Why should we worry about that? we've only got three haven't we?

Quotes from the beginning of December
  Gazlaz
         He has zero football intelligence
   Esdails left foot
    Send him back to Leeds
   Karlos
I did say he was not the right fit from the start of the season
    RAlias
     He has been awful
    Donny Osmond
   Beestin is better
  Donny Baz Rover
    Replace him in January
Followed by, why wait until January
Only done it for a laugh guys, I would think most of us will have changed our minds now, at the time off field problems must have weighed heavy on his mind, and he did have some indifferent games at that time.

If L**ds go up, and we go up, is there a chance we could sign him in the Summer?
