1001 RR, they nearly gave in on the last one, but I ran out of credit.

Thought we'd had no phone calls about any of our players as of a few days ago?

Well I am going to hold my hands up and say I got it very wrong about Alfie.
Never thought up until recently that he was going to make it at this level.
GM sees him in training every day so he is a better judge than me.
He could obviously see his potential and his recent performances have been a massive improvement on last season.
He is stronger and technically much improved under GM and his coaching staff.
Well done Alfie you have proved me and many others wrong.

11 goals in 28 appearances  17 as a sub pretty good nearly 1 in 2 especially with so few starts

Imagine that he and the keeper lad got (short) extensions as they were relatively inexpensive. More expensive renewals will wait for summer O expect when we know more about budget.

The other day McCann said we’ve had no phone calls regarding any of our players 😂

Alfie is class, and work rate is second to none, i love watching the lad play, the effort he puts in everytime he is on the field is what you want to see from every player

I think his progress had stalled at the end of last season and start of this, however he has kicked on again under GM

Bit odd to have had a scary amount of phone calls in two days isn’t it

To be fair to Alfie he was playing, at least for the last part of last season, under the Ferguson tactical masterplan. I did bump into Alfie and had a small discussion about what Ferguson expected him to do under those amazing tactics. He did say it was a concern and he had also discussed it with 'the gaffer'. It just wasn't very clever to knock long balls up to a small striker expecting him to win them and hold up against 6' centre backs. Wasn't doing his confidence any good at all. Much better use of his ability this season under McCann.

Clearly DF didn’t give Alfie much chance to impress with that lump it forward to him tactic.

I said that at the time. It was f**king obvious to me and the people I go to games with, so surely to Christ a man who's been in the game all his life should have seen it. Not that it isn't blindingly obvious that a man of May's stature was never going to be able to win long balls against massive defenders, eh...

It would have been similar to have put him in goal and then wonder why he kept getting chipped.

It's a good job you weren't at last week's u23 game then, as young Smith (5' 8") was up against a 'block of flats' Notts County cb!

Yep! He is being used far better as a nuisance player. Running in the channels, getting behind the back four, chasing lost causes (that he sometimes turns around) and putting the hesitant defender under pressure to use the ball or lose it by closing them down under speed. He will always now be in a position to nick a chance in and around the box facing the goal as opposed to having his back to the direction of play.

We play to his strengths now, rather than his weaknesses. Makes a huge difference.
