What was Maja sold for?

We should demand at least that amount and, then, when they reluctantly agree, tell them he's not for sale.

It has to be very close to what they got for their striker, and not on the never never either

Too easy to turn down at that price

worth at least triple that and with no guarantee of it being better for marquis apart from maybe wage

So it should get rejected, I know it's Sunderland and they are a bigger club but be a disaster selling best striker in league to a team just two places above in league.

That's right Filo, it need to be at least half a million more!

The Club stated in the summer that they would not sell JM or anyone else, when there was no chance of getting in a replacement who was as good or better than what we had. I would think we are passed that threshold and, furthermore, this is the actions of a club under pressure and panicking!

Correct, that why they asked Sheff Utd to recall Ched Evans so they can make a bid for him

What's best striker based on? Definitely not goals/minutes ratio, he's not in the top four for that. Sunderland are making a few cheeky bids but aren't they in for Ched?

The top striker is the one with the most goals.
Always has been.

They have also bid £1.25 mill for Will Grigg as well as agreeing a deal for an unnamed striker from a prem club. The reports say they want 2 out of the 3.

£5m

3.5 according to the locals, with most of that written off against what they still owed Bordeaux for Khazri

John has given everything for this club and you can’t begrudge him a move to TLO Sunderland.

However going now leaves us knackered. I don’t really understand why clubs leave it until the last minute when the selling club can’t react, especially as they must know we don’t need to sell.

In terms of his value, £2.5m feels about right in my opinion

There not too bothered about Marquis the  only reason they’d put in a bid is to hope we sell cheap and stop and remove any threat we could pose to them in any playoff.

Cheeky buggers! Same with Will Grigg if they have bid the same fee! I mean, what does he do apart from score goals!

No reason to disbelieve what has already been said by McCann that JM has a mission to complete, at the end of which his stock will be higher. If true about this bid behind declined then it supports that.

Even with that confidence, tomorrow will be squeeky bum time for many clubs. You do wonder if there'll will be some panic buying going on rather than deals that have been planned and well thought out.

Slightly away from the Marquis topic but striker wise Liam Boyce from Burton would be a better buy than Will Grigg , doesn’t score the same amount of goals , but is a far better team player and creates more than Will Grigg. Grigg is happy being a big fish in a little pond
