play offs
« on April 04, 2019, 10:12:34 am by redandwhitearmy »
I know its not been confirmed and i may be planning a bit prematurely but just wanting to make sure I'm not working IF...

Anybody any idea which dates the play off semi finals are likely to be played?

Praying we don't play anybody away on the Friday 10th as I'm working till 6pm and can't get out of it!! any other days around there i can hopefully book off.

Also what determines which team plays at home first? I understand that obviously 6th plays 3rd etc.. but is there a rule as to which team has the home leg first or is that just random?

Thanks

Don’t know the dates but the higher placed team usually has home advantage in the second leg..

Try the EFL website perhaps.?

The side highest place in the table, so 3rd and 4th, will play the home leg second. Therefore it is extremely unlikely we would be playing away on Friday 10th as that would be too soon to be the 2nd Leg, and we will absolutely be away for the 2nd Leg if we get to the Play Offs.

I was looking for the dates yesterday but couldn't find anything annoyingly. The final is on Sunday 26th May but no idea on the semis.

They've not released the dates for the semi finals yet only when the final will be played.

Last year the 6th placed team was at home on the Thursday after the last game of the season. This would means leg 1 of the Semi Final will be on Thursday 10 May SKY depending.

That would suit me down to the ground. Aslong as we are at home the first leg is fine whichever date it's played then I've booked Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday off the following week and will just cancel whatever I don't need.

I can't see how it will be played after the Thursday 16th of May to be honest as I'd imagine they have to allow certain amount of days for fans arrangements to get to the final?

Heres hoping we get the top six

We will be at home for the first leg, just a matter of what day will it fall on... I could do with knowing when the second leg will fall, is it not usually the following Monday?

Last season I think the 2nd leg was on a Sunday but might be wrong.

Exactly my predicament.Working in Doncaster means the first leg at home isn't a problem.  Piss poor that the dates aren't set in advance though really.

I would imagine all of our rivals would rather face us over two legs.
We haven't travelled too well lately so they will fancy beating us at their home ground.
I think that on a good day and a one off game we could match any of the others. We would be underdogs as well which would suit us.
We just have to get there first.🙂
It's in our hands.

I think playing the second leg away is much more exciting from a fans point of view personally. Depending on how the first leg goes ofcourse.

Is there a minimum allocation like FA cup games?

Can't see it being a problem to be honest all fiarly big teams in the play offs and alot depends on the date.
I would LOVE to play Barnsley in the playoffs.

EFL website states 1st leg is usually weekend following the final day of the season, which would be Fri 10th / Sat 11th / Sun 12th May

Realistically if we get there, we'll be playing at Barnsley where we can have 5800 or Sunderland where we'll get minimum of 2800. Shouldn't be a problem either way getting tickets.

Hope it isn't them... Got two lined up for the car already regardless of the opponent but please for Christ's sake not them.

In my first "no s**t Sherlock" statement for a while this really could go to the last kick of several games

I know we have pundits on here who say which Teams will beat which Teams and probably Algorhythms could predict what will probably happen but me ..... I think like Jeff Stelling says "anything DOES happen" - and there are few things that cant happen.

We cant finish top for example but quite a lot of other permutations CAN happen and for me (NSSherock)  it will have to be a wait and see how it unfolds for a few games yet

.... but as someone posted on another Thread we have not actually made it to the POs yet and the Mini League of us Posh Cov C & BFC / even FTFC has to be won

I think so too but they might get a bounce fron the EFL Cup ? SAFC might be dangerous in a PO Final as well given they know wht getting beaten means - but as above long way to go and anything DOES happen !

Sunderland knee what getting beat meant last season and they still fell to bits. I think we could take them at Wembley personally although I don't believe they'll finish lower than 3rd.
