Esdaille is only showing what he’s showed for a couple of years.
He’s a proper clown

Tonight the lads were amazing, I’m in an English bar in Vegas watching it and to be honest I didn’t expect much.

But we were outstanding, all of them

On balance, we were the best team tonight and deserved to go though.

It's a minute difference that means we are not going to Wembley. Everyone who watched that game knows that we were the better team.

Marquis for me is the catalist to where we are, and you can see how much it meant to him. He didn't have a great game but, his work rate and endeavour deserved him to be the match winner.

Immensey proud of the way we've performed but its a little bit sad that two of our match winners couldn't score from the penalty spot.

We let Charlton off the hook big time!

I was there tonight, personally watched Marquis put in a shift that was unbelievable. Would love to know how much distance he ran tonight. Last few minutes he could hardly walk, yet sprinted back with one of their players to stop a cross in the last minutes. Then had the b*llocks to take a pen. Just hope he's here next season.

Once again, I'll ask the Marquis knockers; who, at this level and within our price range, can we replace John with, that will be better?

Thanks John for what you've given and done for our club. You've become a legend through your tireless work and commitment to the cause. If you do get your big money move, all the very best, and we will miss you when you've gone.

That’s very subjective !
Nobody can answer that question because its unanswerable.....

Well, I have tried to keep out of this, I know what Billy is thinking and I agree with him but will express it a little more to the point.
If you don't rate John Marquis as one of our best centre forwards the club has had in my time and I am 72 yrs old, and watched my first game aged 4 yrs old, You know very little about football.
My opinion of course, others will disagree, but in this case you are wrong, and me, Billy and many more are right, he is one of if not the best.

Johns record speaks for itself, and statistically he is in the “prolific” category.....so I’m not sure who you are actually trying to convince?

JM does have flaws, that’s a given with every great striker, ...and its these flaws that “ the Marquis haters”  ( laughable tag) will voice an opinion over...

I don’t believe for one moment that any Rovers fan would say John is crap/useless...

In the second half two big Scottish lads stood next to me.
It turned out that they were from Glasgow and had come to the game to support their former schoolmate Ali Crawford.
During our chats we spoke about Marquis and they said he wasn’t having the best of matches and I told them he was likely to pop up with a goal.
When it went in, after they had nearly crushed me during the celebrations, they agreed with what I had said.
They understood the Marquis phenomenon.

People take a moment and view it incorrectly.

It's like watching me at work and judging how good a father I am, and then watching me at home and judging how good an analyst I am. Marquis plays two roles extremely well but they don't naturally flow together, at the same time.  I'm not claiming that he is Premier League quality, but the value he brings, for a manager, is immense.

You take a penalty and it gets saved, no problem with that. The goalie guesses right and manages to get to it. Miss the goal, from 12 yards with no defender pressing you, that is not on. I could only listen last night, but Marquis was involved even though he had only one shot on goal during normal time, he is one of the hardest working forwards I have seen, the question is will he stay now, something we have to ask about too many players!

I've gone into safe mode on that question. I've already decided that he will leave, for a mediocre club and the forum will be full of two types of whingers. Those who are convinced we should have got more for him, even if the fee isn't broadcast, and those who are convinced that it will go straight into the owners' pockets.

So I'll be avoiding the forum when/if Marquis leaves

He’s a poor penalty taker, he must know that himself, but fair play to him for stepping up and taking one. He will get no stick from me.

Why would JM leave? He has done very well for you as he has found his level. I think he would struggle in the Championship week in week out.

He might have done when Marquis was at Millwall tbf.
That's got the square root of f**k all to do with it.

I used to watch Brian Deane week in week out with us. That wouldn't have given me any insight into his qualities after three years playing with the Blades. And I'd have looked a right cock if I'd have then said, "He's not good enough to play any higher."

Neutral view .

John Marquis isn't a great footballer , he's a great goalscorer , the most difficult skill in football .

Kieffer Moore attracts the same criticism amongst ourselves .

Nobody says Jack when they are hitting the back of the net , go three games without a goal and the criticism begins .

Kieffer was getting pelters after failing to find the net in the first 3 games of the season , he scored a hat trick at Rochdale in the fourth and scored in the next 3 , they soon shut up , myself included .

Trying to replace Marquis and bring someone in with his record and a better all round game is practically impossible given the budget .

That was an absolute age ago though in footballing terms.

Doesn’t sound like Wilks is coming back either:

“Gutted about last night! But proud to be apart of it, so should everyone associated with @drfc_official! The lads left everything out on the pitch. Also would like to thank @drfc_official and the fans for the unforgettable chapter in my life and wish them all the best in future❤️”

When he played for us he wasn't so good. Granted he has improved and has done very well for you, as I say he has found his level. However the gap between the lower two divisions and the Championship is widening all the time. Had you gone up I think you would have found it much more difficult than before. I'm not Donny bashing here, i'm stating an opinion. I feel my own club will struggle again next season again, we desperately need a goal scorer but we can't find one. In many ways once the disappointment for you has gone, losing last night with honour may have been the best result for you this year.

That's goodbye from Mallik, definitely. He was the last player to stay saluting the fans at the end, we won't see Wilks or Kane again I don't reckon.

So be it if that’s the case. We will find more good players, I’m sure of that. I trust that this regime and manager knows what it’s doing.

We are a good club for up-and-coming players to sign for, and last night will have only enhanced that.

I still say it, where ever he goes Mallik needs to move away from the City of Leeds, get away from his hangers on and the gang culture, it will be his downfall if he doesn’t
