Not that we expected it but basically confirmed that he won't be back next season.

Grant has got a massive job on his hands this summer

As you say, not unexpected. Plenty of good footballers looking for some first team action every year though, in McCann we trust?

By the end of this week, we could lose of 5 of the 11 which stated the second leg against Charlton. Going to be a busy summer!

Rangers ? I have been told often that LFC dont want to make it too easy for Stevie G up there .....

.... but I reckon he will want to stop the Bhoys this coming Season so maybe HK will be allowed to go if SG begs enough

I don't think he will end up at rangers just yet. A season in the championship first or till Jan and see how he handles bigger games in front of 20 30 k gates. Rangers get 40 k and the pressure will make some crumble. Yes the standard is poor most weeks but you still got to be mentally and physically ready.

I don't think a loan at Rangers would do him much good, the quality isn't if at all better than League One.

A season at a mid to lower tier Championship side would suit him well.

Both him and Wilks will be hard acts to follow, but I’m sure GM has probably got players in mind to replace them.

I think Kane & Wilks both deserve a crack at the Championship.

Shame to lose him but it’s the way these loans work, it was always going to be a real long shot that he would stay.

He deserves and I’m sure he will probably get a loan to a championship club next season, it will be interesting to follow his career from here on in. He certainly has a lot of potential.

We shouldn't expect carbon copies of Kane or Wilks but good quality additions that make the sum of the parts better than the individuals.

We may lose some flare and unpredictability and gain more consistency and ability to execute a game plan.

Who know's, we could get the next bright young things or, tried and tested talant that are looking for more games at a club that is on the up.

Herbie Kane next move, a loan to a Championship club, Bristol City. You read it here first

Thing about this is Herbie Kane is 100% replaceable as there’ll always be a ton of young players at PL clubs needing to go out on loan and get experience.

It’s about having the right scouts, staff and recruitment personnel to identify the best of that bunch.

Given that HK was cherry picked previously to come here on loan that would suggest it’s an area where McCann and his staff are strong.

It's a shame that our head of Scouting and Recruitment has buggered off to Mansfield today then.

Perfect if you think about it, all the transfer targets would have already been identified. Save on wages and we got some compensation.

Think he might have played for them as a young teenager.

I think they’re his boyhood and local team.

Kane has been superb, especially in the first half of the season but really he’s done well throughout. Our most important midfielder is still contracted to the club though - Ben Whiteman.

Kane has had an outstanding season especially considering he has never previously played a single minute of pro football in his life.

Look who started in the last game of the season the year before; McCullough and Houghton then left, Mason left half way through this season and Beestin has hardly played. On the other hand, Kane, Wilks and Downing were all brought in by McCann and played at Charlton.

I think McCann's quite comfortable with a turnover of players; I'm looking forward to see who he brings in.

Just hope we don't leave it until last orders.

Let’s face it, when Herbie came most of us were like who the feck is this lad?? Never heard of him. He is good, but there are more options out there. Plus the club is in a much better position with higher visibility than a year ago...

In GM we trust.

Fingers crossed, I have never seen two young loanees as good as Kane and Wilks at this club before, I would be surprised if we get two as good as that again, but I hope to be proved wrong

Hull were said to be interested, by the local press, but they need to sort a contract with Nigel Adkins first, so don't see that happening just yet

When we played Bristol Rovers I was talking to one of Herbies mates (was a city fan willing us to beat them) made it clear that they would love him at Ashton Gate

I heard Hull but lets face it he was in the spotlight the other night and (like all the other Players) he looked good - and others will be watching and it will probably get competitive

I wouldnt rule out a move to 90% of Championship Clubs in truth. I for one will love it if he progresses and goes as far as he can in the Game - and I will be thankful he came here and I got to see him. One day I hope he surpasses Tony Wookcock and his 42 England caps (from memory)

Kane should make that step up and if he was our young player out on loan we'd be advocating that.  He won't be back but he had a good year here.  The huge positive is that we now look good to the big clubs in that loan players kick on here and that will help us this summer.  With where we are at we need loan players and that can be a selling point for us, not the richest best supported club but good at developing players who enjoy it here.

To be fair, wasn't this is first full professional season?
