Another penalty shoot out win.
What’s going on?

Snap questionnaire:

What were you thinking when Pickford stepped up to take pen #5?
What were you thinking after he leathered it in?

Apparently pickford is quality outfield, you can tell by his distribution he’s got a great left peg

Great pens but who would let a keeper take the last and deciding one seemed strange to me lol

He would only do it if he’s shown in training he’s competent

In the England v Scotland Women’s match another ridiculous penalty decision given. That was once again ball to arm.
There was no movement of the arm towards the ball.
I am English and support England but that was another shocking decision.
The present rule is a complete nonsense.
How can footballers run & move with there arms tucked behind their body.
Someone please tell me.   :headbang:

As I’ve posted before , more goalkeepers should take penalties. Which player on a field takes more dead ball kicks than a goalkeeper, answer none

A manager who has turned around an international teams long standing poor record of penalty shootouts and made them penalty shootout winners thats who! In Southgate we trust.

It wasn't the last it was the 9th. 10th pen when all others are in is the toughest, I imagine it's a lot tougher if you have to wait ages for the oppo GK to stop celebrating and put his gloves back on as well. Pens are obviously a coin flip but England look like they are working on the psychology and the technique and trying to "own" the situation.
Only a manager whose thought about it long and hard would start with CB and end with GK and have a guy who made a costly error in the previous match also take one. Whilst not bothering with the CF or set piece specialist. Personally I thought Dier and Sterling were the nervy ones for me but they both buried them so what do I know.

Players volunteer to take the pens as well.
Someone who puts them away in training might suddenly not fancy his chances in an actual shoot out.
Many reasons could influence that.
Whatever the reasons were for having the players who took them, it all turned out okay for us so Southgates choices were vindicated.
