Shame for the lad really.  Difficult for any player to have to retire through any reason other than their own choice.  A key player (yes one of many) in our title win of 2013.
I wish him all the best with what he chooses to do from here on in.

Great player Tommy Spurr. One of those that you naturally warm to with his commitment and attitude. I remember the Shefield United, at home on New Years Day game, and as an ex Owl he was getting dogs abuse. Every time we had a throw in he would jog across to take it in front of east stand getting harangued by their fans  and he was smiling, winking, blowing kisses. Brilliant

Also his genuinely shell-shocked interview and reaction following the victory at Brentford which was on that Monday night football programme is well worth a revisit.

Good luck, Tommy.

He was as others have stated a top guy and a damned good footballer for us
Best of luck to him in whatever ventures he embarks upon

Hard to retire because of injury, it makes you think, Copps is very lucky and has been able to keep himself going as long as he has.

Shame for the lad..

Just goes to show it can be a short career.. makes it more understandable that players look for decent wages, especially in the lower divisions..

Good luck to Tommy in whatever he decides to do now.
A great pro and he was’nt too bad as a left back. ( Understatement )
A valuable member of of that 2012/13 title winning team.

Real shame for him at such a young age. Like others have said it highlights how short a career it really can be.

He was brilliant for us,Mr Consistent and of course he was part of that brilliant promotion winning team in the 2012/13 season.  I was gutted when we messed about with his contract and lost out because I genuinely feel like he wanted to stay that season.

Worth noting how nice of a guy he is too! Anybody who’s met him personally will tell you that.

Good luck Tommy.
