Oh dear this is worse than Brexit.
Any one would have thought we have just gone into receivership.

Think there has been a massive over reaction to him leaving.
Yes i am as disappointed as anyone at him leaving us 1 week before the start of pre season training.
We will get someone else and he may turn out to be even better.
DRFC are more than just about GM aren’t they.

Let’s get real folks. Life goes on. Look to the positives and there are plenty. If you get negative it just takes you down. Smile
It’s life, it happens, it’s football.  :rtid:

Absolutely dead on !

It IS Football - and Football has become so very predictable off the pitch. This is something I posted less than 3 weeks ago re the Euro Super League and it "fits" into this debate perfectly. (I am not saying my post is perfect)

Quote from: DonnyOsmond on June 05, 2019, 10:14:26 AM

It's the circle of life. UEFA and the big clubs bully the PL and other top level competitions to get what they want. The Premier League bullies the EFL to get what they want for their clubs such as EPPP and the Checkatrade format. If the Super League is stopped or not it wont ever stop the greed of bigger clubs. Football was exciting because clubs could rise up and one day dream of winning the top tier but we've spent the past 20/25 years with the same boring clubs winning everything with only oil money changing that.
... end of DonnyOsmond quote

Fully agree with this. It is sheer greed by top Clubs everywhere - and increasingly in every sport

The "romance" of football used to be can you climb as did Northampton from Div 4 to Div 1 (top tier) - and yes you could BUT without MEGA money it cant be done now

Teams are increasingly "in their place". There are three (ish) layers of the Prem already - and the rest of the EFL is fast becoming stratified and that "romance" is dying fast because a Team like Scunny / Bury / FGR (insert your own names) will be in Tier 4 and their aspiration will be to make Tier 3 now and again and avoid Tier 5 - and that is a very sad place to be for those Clubs and their fans to be in and Gates will suffer and of course already have

There are people as we know who are glory hunters and wont support their local Team(s) - and they certainly wont be encouraged if that Team has aims only to stay where they are - have a good Season or 2 - and then come back down.

Sad but inevitable state of affairs - and my dad used to have many "sayings / views" one of which was - "when they take the maximum wage off Football the game will get ruined" He said that and though it has taken a while we have got to where I am sure he thought we would

Premiership trying to seal their "Club" and avoid Relegation of their Members. Already been discussed many times. Make Championship Prem 2 and do the same ? I would not discount anything

Having stood in the stands all season to deafening choruses of "we've got McCann... Super grant McCann".... What a fickle and disingenuous bunch some of our fans are.

He had a plan and started rebuilding the team around that plan. How was he to know someone would come knocking with what he sees as a golden opportunity, and probably a lot of money.

Which one of us can hand on heart say we wouldn't have chased the money, profile and challenges of the job he has gone too?

It's a game.  The club will go on. I had already resigned myself to us possibly managing mid table at best this year... and that's fine by me.

I thought we were a pub team having a laugh but apparently some fans have designs on us being the Yorkshire Juve!

The only thing that’s getting me is leaving us with no players, surely if your manager and you’re releasing all these players and making no signings. You’d have a bid of dignity and pride to make sure you don’t leave it in such a mess.
He obviously doesn’t think we can make promotion this year.

Maybe just maybe, GM was working on player ins and outs BEFORE Hull came knocking, it doing his job as we would have wanted him to.?

Your post implies he deliberately let players go, hadn’t signed enough replacements, then buggered off - all as some grand plan..

You may not mean that, but it can read that way.

To me, GM’s departure is bad timing and nothing more, nothing less..

He was before the interest I agree.
But as Jonathon posted this week he’s definitely not been working with the best interests of drfc while still taking his wage
