Is that what they paid for Targett!! thats crazy makes the 20m for Ings look great. The Palace right back is young and a good player so if he spends his career at Utd been 1st choice it won't look so bad. The talk of Palace wanting 100m for Zaha has to be a joke as well
I think it's an indication of how much he is worth to Palace rather than what he is worth in general.

Didn’t think the 50m for AWB was outrageous in today’s climate. AWB was class last season and still only 21. He will be worth a lot more in 2 years time.
Not Rovers related but two big stand out stories for me over the past few days:- Aston Villa have spent the best part of £20m on Southampton’s reserve left back, who spent last season out on loan. They’re reportedly also lining up a £25m bid for a Bristol City centre back.- Man Utd have bid £70m for Harry Maguire, a decent centre half but nothing more. SEVENTY MILLION. And Leicester City have turned the offer down. The game at that level has gone mad. Any transfer involving a) a Premier League club and b) an Englishman and you’re just looking at silly figures. Makes you wonder where the ceiling is going to be and when the bubble’s going to burst.

Maybe but I listened to a discussion on this on the radio with a media expert on these things the other day.He is actually predicting a massive drop in tv rights the next time they are up for renewal..
There's only going to be more competition for viewing rights with Amazon, Facebook, Youtube, Netflix etc etc all looking for a slice of the rights. In the past there was only really Sky and recently BT and still the money was crazy

I don't know. I was always crap at maths

Thing is that we only see these headline figures and rarely the breakdown relating to instalment - over time, appearances, international caps, sell-ons etc. One thing you could say is that this money has more chance of staying in the games and filtering down, certainly compared to agent fees and wages.crazy cash for sure, but then you can pay over £4 for a loaf of bread these days
