Seem to recall one year going about 10 league games unbeaten before losing 2-0 to bury who had a decent record at the time that season too - late 80s/early 90s?

May be mis-remembering tho.

They have a decent home record in the league but not amazing. Drew 1-1 against Sunderland, needed two very late goals (81 and 90) to beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 and then demolished Shrewsbury Town 3-0 although Shrewsbury Town played with ten men from the 38th min.

Very happy not to be top at this early stage. How many teams who are top after 6/7/8/9/10 games end up in the top 2 at the end of the season. Not too many i suspect.

Look at Peterborough last season. Top end of October & finished 7th.
 

Tranmere Rovers 2012/13 Top end of November, 3rd end of December & finished 11th or 12th ( can’t remember which )
Just 2 examples and there are loads..

We are well placed with 1 or 2 games in hand on all above us.
It’s where we are on the 1st Sunday of May that counts.
Only 38 or 39 ( Bolton away !!! ) matches to go.

It was the side with Johnny Muir in, if I remember at the time there was only us and Liverpool with the 100% record, I do remember Saints & Greavsy mentioning this. I also remember them asking rovers fans to keep the chants clean, as we were reported to be the worst for foul language.

We did it 3 seasons in a row - 1993-94, 1994-95 (6 game unbeaten start) and 1995-96. We were also unbeaten in our first 7 matches of our last Conference season 2002-03.

Edit: The season we won the first 5 and then lost the next 4 was 1990-91.
