Couldn’t have gone much better really could it! Got a right bashing from their fans after the goal and celebration last season, many of them pretending not to know who he was. Subsequently brandished a w**ker by their classless chairman. Comments on their forum ahead of Saturday’s game to the effect that they hoped he’d have a stinker. He ends up getting a goal and an assist that led to a 2-0 win and a place in the EFL team of the week!

A satisfying afternoon’s work.

Positive comments from Mick McCarthy about Sadlier too.

We really do need to sort the contractual situations out sooner rather than later. Sadlier and Anderson are likely to attract interest and we can’t afford to drag our feet over this. It was suggested a while back that talks were underway. Those talks need to be reaching a positive conclusion so we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot. To have a player on the verge of the Republic of Ireland squad is a big deal for a club our size. For that player to be approaching the end of his contract is a genuine concern.

Totally agree, Jon, but I would add that Anderson is becoming a very special player for us and, without a doubt, an absolute priority for a good 3 years.

Hope he doesn't get picked from a really selfish point of view
