He wasn't in the team according to my LFC supporting mate , this morning.
He read the team out , but i don't know where he got the info from.
I told him the reason Herbie didn't go out on loan was so he could play in these sort of games.

What a waste of talent.

Hope we’re keeping in touch with him and Liverpool. What a boost he would be, come January!

Liverpool are my “second team” and as such I always want them to do well but I hope that they get knocked out of the Carabao Cup before Christmas.
We might get him on loan in January then.

The trouble is that I think he is in their CL squad as well.
I know he won’t get a game but I seem to recall someone saying that they have to name maybe six home grown players in a squad ( of 24?).

On the Carabao Cup subject, I see that Sharp isn’t even getting a game tonight.
I know he was sent off the other day but am I right in saying that red cards in a league game won’t prevent him playing in a cup game (competition specific).

If it's a straight red i think they just miss the next games unless it's in europe. might be completely wrong though!

I thought the red counts in the competition it’s awarded in

Liverpool’s U21s are playing Fleetwood tonight in the Leasing Trophy, so at least Kane is involved with the first team rather than being at that.

I don't think red cards are competition-specific, yellows are though. A daft rule but there you go.

Marosi definitely missed a cup game for us last season after being sent off in a league game.

Thanks RA,

I can’t believe Herbie hasn’t come on yet?

Still struggling to see how his development is better served with 7 mins every now and again against a League One opponent than spending the season playing week in week out

I’m hoping that Rochdale can hang on against Man U.
Then win on pens.

Sadly, he is never going to make it as a first team regular at Liverpool.  They played a 16 year old tonight who they have taken from Fulham and who was excellent and with perhaps 10-15 other similar youngsters coming through, you have to be an exceptional talent to break into their first team.  Liverpool, like Chelsea, Man City etc are greedy and just want as many of the best youngsters as they can get, knowing that if they don’t turn out to be exceptional they can just discard them and spend £80m on a proven foreign player.
Herbie deserves better than the 10 minutes he got tonight against a league one team that he should be facing and destroying week in week out.

Real shame as said above, he should be playing more than ten first team minutes in a cup game against a league one team.
Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

herbie got 10 mins as sub coming on in the 82 min, sadly its a long queue at liverpool and herbie is far from the front. Much as i would have liked him back at keepmout ,whilst he was was with us, to me he was best player in league 1 .He would have developed even more playing every week at a top championship club and after that would be ready for prem if not at liverpool some were else .Just a waste of talent a player that good getting a sub game against mk dons .Wish him all the best for future were ever that is

The reliance on BW and  BS in midfield with no obvious back up makes the case for bringing back Herbie a very sensible shout.

Only Liverpool and Herbie can decide what's best for his development. He was no doubt immensely proud to get part of a first team game which will hopefully be one of an increasing number towards fulfilling his dream.

Doesn't matter what we think, would any of you want to take that from him?

But who would you drop if all three were fit?
Sheaf out and start with Whiteman and Kane maybe?

We definitely look light if one of those two got injured - the alternatives are Gomes and Blair, neither of whom seems a natural fit - but honestly I’m not sure Kane would get into this team right now. I don’t think he’s disciplined enough to sit like Sheaf and Whiteman do, and he’s less of a natural wideman than Sadlier or Taylor. And he’s not replacing Copps!

Would be a great problem to have though. He could always play up front like some people kept trying to push last year ;)

I was thinking the same thing if I’m honest, does HK fit into this system? He could potentially fill the role Copps is playing but I don’t think he’d do a better job than Shef or Whiteman currently
