Horton Extends Deal

12 more months for young Branden. Well done.

Hopefully, this the first of many of our existing players extending their contacts, also.

Great news getting youth prospect on longer contracts is a good sign

it is and it isnt, realistically hie many of these kids are ever gonna make the first team on a satdi,  managers have such a short shelf life, a loan from a bigger club is always preferred over one of our own.  I wish it was different ...
Is it huddersfield who have scrapped their academy, too expensive for the end rewards...   sad but true...

Huddersfield have got an academy although not a full scale one. They changed their academy from a Cat 2 to a Cat 4. They have a U17, U19 and a Elite U23 development team who play in the Premier league reserves.
Our record with young professional development has been poor. DM has changed the U 23 guide lines so we may see progression into the first team. We will have to wait and see. But let’s give DM and his staff a chance to show progression.

Horton, Blaney, Greaves, Amos, Watters, Longbottom, Gibbons and Boocock are probably going to be the pick of the u23’s this coming season. Cody Prior has been there or thereabouts for a few seasons now, without really setting the World on fire. That’s 9 young lads out of a possible 10 outfield players. Not a bad core to build into a half decent U23’s squad.

I hope so mate, nothing better than seeing a local lad pull the shirt on...
