Things we can be certain of
« on November 20, 2019, 01:36:04 pm by Ldr »
In this election

1) Boris is a liar, opportunist and the Tories are dangerously veering to the right on the back of popularism.

2) Despite this Labour will not get any where near a majority due to the Corbyn brand being perceived by the floating voters cohort as toxic.

3) we are all f**ked

I don't know about Chickened out, he must be going soft in his old age. He'd have made mincemeat of them.

I agree entirely with that Ldr.

It's a travesty but there it is and such a shame that Labour will almost certainly be unable to implement what could be a fantastic boost for the country with their radical policies.
I despair, I really do that it seems a lazy lying hypocrite like Johnson it can fool most of the people most of the time

Not sure it has anything to do with Johnson it’s more to do with corbyn, he is pretty unelectable and always has been, unfortunately he is more interested in being pm than anything else

I despair of you too bpool.

Johnson's sole ambition has been to become PM at any cost. He's lied and betrayed and manoeuvred any which way to achieve his aim.

How you can accuse Corbyn of the same is ironic to say the least.
Why BST spends time humouring you is beyond me.

Why because if he had stepped down as leader labour would have romped the last election or do you not think? He put himself instead of his party? But feel free to despair

Labours  problem is that they are attacking the working man who has had aspirations to better their life  and that of their families, How are private house holders in the Doncaster Area  not or are not ordinary working people.
How many  people living on the new housing estates in the Barnsley, Rotherham Sheffield areas are not ordinary working people that have aspirations of a better life, and have mortgaged their working life to pay for the bricks and mortar that they live in, only for people to be jealous of their so called wealth, and want to limit the amount of money they can pass on to their children. To as they say spread the wealth of the country more fairly.
Johnson is a womaniser, while Corbyn has been married three times, and has even got that low to bed  Dianne Abbott, Ok if the other three are the same as her he is hardly a womaniser ,  come on, would you?
Then the lies and who he hangs around with, Terrorists, and his last Manifesto included student fees abolished a complete lie, and respecting the result of the 2016 referendum, a complete lie.
The party is now a complete joke, not for the working man at all, and the real wealthy people they hate with a passion will not be here to pick up the tab, they will be long gone taking their wealth and the jobs it creates to another part of the world, as they have done already, some of the big hitters have already got a big short against the pound just in case labour against the odds win the election.

To answer your first point.
Labour did remarkably well at the last election BECAUSE of Corbyn, not despite him and because of that he has every right to lead them into this one.

However, as I've said before on here, he has been relentlessly demonised by the Tory media and has given them several open goals due to his intransigence on various side issues as well as Brexit.
Plus he's ridiculously allowed people to believe he's a racist by not dealing with the anti Zionism in the party.

Therefore it would have been sensible for someone less tarnished to lead the party into this election.
But make no mistake, whoever that was would be from the far left, as they have control of the party and whoever that was would be open to all the bile and venom that Corbyn gets.
Despite that I believe Labours manifesto will be wholly democratic and a damn site better for ordinary people than anything the Tories come up with.

Not in any wanting to butt in before tommy but do you think this report might give us a clue? It looks at press bias in political stories and how stories about certain parties are given a positive 'spin' whilst other parties are given a negative 'spin'. Who knew?

Cheers Wilts.
That kind of backs up what I was trying to say ie any Leader of this Labour Party would be right up against it from the start.

TT.

That's true. They will.

But we always knew that. Raising it now doesn't really help. This was always the reason why Labour has to have a leader who doesn't leave his chin exposed for free hits.

There's a reason why Blair existed...

Off couse. But how?
Not easy to stand up against hundreds of years of the well oiled Establishment manipulating the likes of us into believing what they want us to believe.
And the electorate are going to fall for it yet again.

Labour had and has to make sure that it is absolutely nailed down on the message it gives out. The Tory media will always try to destroy them, but that only works if there's stuff for them to feed on. Corbyn has chucked out lots of stuff for them to feed on.

My apologies. I missed that.

I wasn't having a pop at you in that earlier post by the way. Just at the idea that I hear from a lot of Corbyn supporters. That he is right and the media is unfair. That may be true, but it doesn't help.

As I have said several times on here I was a Corbyn supporter and continue to believe that he is an honourable, right thinking man with a great vision for this country's future.
But it's turned out that he is weak and naive and doesn't defend his corner very well.

Whether another leader would make a difference I don't know.
But with the state of the polls and what I'm hearing from floating voters, it might have been worth a shot.

Agreed TT.

For now, it's all about trying to deny the Liar-in-Chief a majority.

Then pick up the pieces from there.

You need challenging when you imply that Corbyn's only ambition is to be PM while exculpating Johnson from the same thing when all the evidence says otherwise.
