Posh v Rovers
« on December 26, 2019, 02:15:03 pm by RoversAlias »
Boxing Day football then!

TEAM: Dieng; Halliday, Anderson, Wright, John; Whiteman, Sheaf; Taylor, Gomes, Sadlier; Ennis.

SUBS: Lawlor, James, Daniels, Greaves, Coppinger, May, Thomas.

So James is dropped to the bench, Wright comes in. Whiteman returns in midfield, Copps is rested on the bench. Ennis for Thomas.

Bingham isn't even a sub which might be an indicator that he isn't staying beyond next week. Ditto Daniels falling out of favour.

Very tough one today but hopefully we can surprise and pick up a point...or even three!

He's obviously being rested. The second of four games in what, 12 days? Gomes did enough to merit staying in the side against Accrington for me.

John at left back again is the perplexing one in my opinion.

Not sure what Sadlier did last time out to justify him keeping his place in the team

Might be three at the back
With wing backs, Taylor and Halliday

Not sure 4 games in 12 days is much different though from a Saturday, Tuesday schedule

It's not, but I also wouldn't necessarily expect Copps to start every game in a fortnight of Saturday-Tuesdays too. We have to be mindful of his age and recovery needs. He has spoken of needing days off of training, so it doesn't surprise me he's been left out today.

I had a thought on us employing wingbacks today but I'll be surprised, I think it's risky against Peterborough with that front three they have. They play a tricky set-up, three at the back themselves, so we need to be sharp and be aware of the threat they can pose if they come forward at speed.

lets judge that comment after the game,,,  the script i wrote we have a high energy (sorry Copps) pressurise their defenders into a mistake (they gave a lot of silly goals away early on) for 0-1  then a screamer for 0-2

for once we have a proper team
7 out of the 11 starters weren't here at the end of last season.

Joe Wright clanger - lucky they didn’t capitalise after he gave it away on the edge of our box.

Apparently we've lined up with Sheaf in the #10 position? Interesting one that.

It’s not helped him find a red shirt any more frequently yet!

Couple of corners in quick succession for us, ends with Taylor shooting wide from the edge of the box on his left foot. Pretty even contest so far.

Sadlier lets the ball come across him then hits it into the bottom corner from 30 yards out. Possibly the keeper could have done better but decent hit!

Guaranteed a goal against Peterborough, Sadlier just loves playing against them.

Cracking goal, but still Sheaf hasn't found a red shirt yet

Great goal from Sadds. Peterborough look dangerous on the attack.

Maybe one then, but a simple sideways pass. The goal was Sads taking a pop from 30 plus yards

It was hardly an 'assit'. The fact is Sheaf gives the ball away too much.
