Well the Shrews have got a plumb home tie against Liverpool in the next round of the cup if they beat Bristol do let’s hope the players are thinking about that more than us tomorrow night.

One or two niggles that might not be risked.

We’ve nobody to come in, if only we had a capable attacking player and an experienced centre midfielder within our ranks.

Ooh wait a minute
How many games would Ali have played if he had stayed though?
Would we have been paying him to just sit on the bench for 20 odd games?

No Ali Crawford thinking that was the experienced midfielder. Alfie featured well for us early doors.

Sorry idler. Almost forgot him.

Thought we had signed Deli Ali to sit on the bench for a split second. Then i woke up and realised i was a Doncaster Rovers supporter

Not sure, he’s a much better player than Gomes in my opinion.

And that’s what a squads all about you need players on the bench to push the others on.
At the moment we have no real competition for places which can lead to complacency

Gomes has away to go to be top draw, but his game is developing and quickly. There is a good player in that lad, he has a bit of bite about him and looks to be getting more used to the pace of the game since the start of the season.
He is probably one who will benefit from playing games more regularly and find a natural position as he has had to play different rolls for the first team because of injuries etc and the depth of the squad. He needs to play a lot of games, if not first team games every other one that we can play him in, and develop a little more expansive game instead of playing just a short easy ball most of the time and take more responsibility to create things.

Excellent result, shows once again what a strong eleven this is when they’re fit and firing.

The whole back four had really solid games, barely put a foot wrong. Sheaf was excellent in front of them, broke up play, used the ball well, when he’s on that form he looks a top player and helps to make us tick. Sadlier a constant threat with the ball at his feet and some lovely link up play and balls into the box. Ennis worked tirelessly and proved his worth again, he deserved that goal.

Other than the Sunderland game, we’ve put a handy little run together. As I’ve said before, this season is still very much alive if we can get a few reinforcements in.

Only Rotherham United and Oxford United have a better goal difference than Rovers. Despite all the moaning about striking options, even the league leaders cannot match our goal difference.

Yep, very good assessment. I thought Sheaf was excellent particularly as Copps and Whiteman weren't quite on it, especially first half.

Whiteman a great player but has been distinctly average for a few games now. Maybe we expect too much of him but as our main man he is not pulling up many trees at present.

3 wins from 4 games.  Team on a good run and coming together again well. 15th to 11th in table. 2 points to playoffs with 2 or 3 games in hand.
3 more points next Sat would be great.

3 clean sheets out of 4 games. Oxford, Peterborough and Shrewsbury all credible sides.

Shrewsbury aren't a bad side and yet they didn't even get one shot on target in 95 mins. So any criticism of Rovers has to be a bit harsh. A clean sheet with 2 goals scored. Let's look forward to next sat.

Have to disagree.. yes apart from the early goal the first 26 mins or so weren’t great but we dominated that second half and with a rock solid defence.

What do you expect.?

Didn’t he have a bad break of his leg whilst there?

Awful Alan?
Seen a lot worse than that.
Very professional comfortable win. If it had been 4-0 Shrewsbury could not say they had been hard done to.

Yes credible result, defence very good, best players on the field for us.
Sheaf good throughout and Whiteman quiet really.
Ennis work his socks off and was the best of the attacking players.
Now we come to the three behind part from the cross for the first goal Sadlier was poor. Coppinger was really poor throughout and his performances are going backwards from sloppy short passes.  Taylor did not have a good game either.
These are the positions we need to improve with signings.
But a win is a win.

he played a whole 83 minutes for them  just about scrapes in as an "old boy"

On 26 July 2017, he moved on a season-long loan to League One side Shrewsbury Town. [  He made his senior debut for the club on 8 August in an EFL Cup first round defeat at Nottingham Forest, starting and playing 83 minutes of the 2–1 loss.

On 5 September, it was revealed Ennis had suffered yet another long-term injury, this time to his knee, putting him out of action for an estimated four to six months

I agree with this, he’s raw, but he’s coming on nicely, not the finished article by a long way, but potential is clearly there

Niall Ennis put a proper centre forward performance in today.
Scored a goal, worked his socks off, held them ball up brilliantly under severe pressure and getting fouled. Used the ball intelligently.

Why he didn’t get man of match award is lost on me.
Yes Anderson was his imperious self and also scored but Ennis was the real deal for me tonight.
Excellent games from James, Halliday, Wright & Sheaf also.
Copps was heavily marked and got little protection from the ref.
He still created more than any one else so to criticise him is nonsensical imo.

Overall a very satisfying performance against a miserly defence and the right result.
