Just signed for Peterborough for 500k from Barnet. Ferguson said he tried to sign him for us but couldn’t.

Maybe he didn’t want to move up north..?

Or more than likely we wouldn't pay a fee like that for a 20/21 year old non league footballer, and that isn't a dig at the club.
I would just be shocked if we did.

maybe this was the final straw as far as Fergie was concerned and explains his departure?

Absolute rubbish.

He wasn't even on our clubs radar.

I'm not sure anything could justify his behaviour and his departure

maybe. I doubt he’d have given up the chance of moving to league 1 football from the conference though

It wasn't even up for consideration as the lad was never on the clubs radar.

Do you think the club always tell you the truth Martin? Not just on this matter but others as well?

Transfer news: Done deals in January 2020 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/transfers

Just for balance, you can see they've also taken Reece Brown on loan. Oh dear.

Majority of business being done at the moment are loans which is expected. Some exceptions though.

What’s wrong with Reece brown, I thought that was a very good signing for them

And McCann who made a similar quote? They have no reason to lie. The club does in my opinion.

yes it does seem odd. McCann reckoned he had wilks lined up as well. I’d be surprised if Ferguson has lied about this it’s exactly the sort of transfer he would go for and no matter what people think of him his recruitment was really good. Equally I couldn’t see the club forking that out for a non league player. It isn’t our policy.

Brilliant, another club sign a player - a player I doubt most of us have ever heard of - for quite a lot of money and it's turned into a chance to have a dig at Rovers. Again.

not really. I started this thread because Ferguson stated he tried to sign him for us. I thought it would interest our fans of our past transfer targets. Is that such a problem?

The same fans who think Bingham and Thomas aren't good enough because they're from non league, but they'd be happy spending half a million on another

In fairness he's been a success at non league. What Bingham and Thomas have ever achieved you could write on a postage stamp! It baffles me how they even landed a contract here in the first place.

It’s irrelevent where they’re from, can see with my own eyes they aren’t good enough. We could’ve signed them from Barcelona and they’d still not be good enough.

Massive sweeping statement implying all non league players are of the same standard don’t you think?

if

here we go again, just like in the GE,people telling me why I think the way I do.I think the way I do about Bingham and Thomas simply because I have seen them play,if we had got them from a premier league club they would still be shite.

After watching Peterborough in the game over Christmas, I agree with Fergie, they want a half million pond mid fielder, what he has signed before are not good enough.

Although out of the 4 midfielders that day he only signed one of them 👍

I thought that was common knowledge that we would have had first dibs on Wilkes had we won promotion.
