McCann said he agreed the fee in January though so we could’ve had him permanently then

Most of our best permanent players over the last three/ four season were signed by DF. Yes he also signed some risk players that have not achieved.
We just got maybe a bit of profit from selling Alfie, we have definitely got a profit from selling JM.
GM used those players better I agree and with three good loanees we had a side got to the playoffs.
Three of our best players at the moment were signed by DF.
So he does have an eye for a good player and tries to get them on permanent deals, whether he gets the best out of his teams is debatable and not consistent.
Let’s not forget he also signed Max Watters who could turn out to be a good player, but he came from way down the pyramid and was a risk signing.
I’ve questioned before has the policy on signing players on permanent contracts, especially strikers, changed.

Open to opinion but over the last 3/4 seasons I would say our best players have been:

Marquis
Whiteman
Copps
Butler
Anderson
Kane
Wilks

First two were signed by Ferguson, the rest not. He signed some good players, not most, I would argue. Not all permanent, granted but you need to spot a good loan player.

Maybe he didn’t want to move up north..?

Or more than likely we wouldn't pay a fee like that for a 20/21 year old non league footballer, and that isn't a dig at the club.
I would just be shocked if we did.

It wasn't even up for consideration as the lad was never on the clubs radar.

is Ferguson lying then?

Yes, I would say he is. Much like the statements he gave to the press before and after he walked away from us.

Fergie would say that, just as McSnake said he could have signed Wilks when he was here.

It’s sour grapes from Fergie because he wasn’t a good enough manager to take us forward & McSnake is lashing out because of the way he left us in the  :turd: & is attempting to put different slant on why he walked. It’s pitiful.....no, actually it’s laughable. It’s quite apparent we are still ‘under their skin’, good.

Can't people see that DF is having a pop at us as a club here? He's telling the whole world that his previous club, DRFC, wouldn't pay that kind of money, but his current club will back him to that extent.

It's the same rubbish he came out with when he was here.

Chris he signed Anderson just before he left having had him on loan.
There are couple others but we’ll be debating all night.

Anderson was signed by fergie.
Blair, Wright, lawlor, Andrew, mason, were all very good signings too

It beggars complete belief that DM as had a few month to prepare for the opening of this window, either he hasn’t a clue or his hands are tied IMO, unfortunately I think it’s a bit of both. How on earth anyone can justify Thomas and Bingham as good enough and there records speak for themselves it’s ridiculous recruitment

Did those two players join during this window.?

Is it not possible that transfer plans long worked on can be scuppered at short notice - Idah for example.?

That is correct, Ferguson did I see sign Anderson both on loan and permanently.

Brilliant, another club sign a player - a player I doubt most of us have ever heard of - for quite a lot of money and it's turned into a chance to have a dig at Rovers. Again.

The same fans who think Bingham and Thomas aren't good enough because they're from non league, but they'd be happy spending half a million on another

It’s irrelevent where they’re from, can see with my own eyes they aren’t good enough. We could’ve signed them from Barcelona and they’d still not be good enough.

Massive sweeping statement implying all non league players are of the same standard don’t you think?

Except how do you know that he would be worth it? We'd never seen Thomas or Bingham before, they flopped, all of a sudden without seeing him, he's worth 500k? You're just happy to have something else to complain about

Peterborough sign a new player and this forum goes nuts? We do have some very odd people supporting the Rovers don't we?

Fans on a forum don’t choose the players you know.

Not like a Ferguson to talk  :turd: just for effect is it. If Ferguson tried to sign him for us he must have been all of 18/19 at the time. Hmmm I smell bullsh**

Can we all agree the transfer activity so far this season is not good enough. So we can draw a line under it and move onto talking about how rubbish the food is.

It’s an exaggeration that the forum goes nuts just to make a point .
We have diverse  supporters who have different ideas.

That's exactly how it looked to me, even without any insider knowledge, he looks to be trying to big-up his current employer
