Scunthorpe's new goalie has let one in. Losing 1-0 at Northampton.

Nearly got caught out overplaying there - Dieng’s clearance closed down but didn’t fall well enough for them and ended up just firing wide from outside the box.

2 nowt as I type!

Quality goal that. He thought about it and put it exactly where it needed to be put.

Counter attack from Rovers, 4 on 3 ended with Sadlier curling in from about 15 yards out.

Great to go into half time (most likely) with a 2 nil lead when we’ve been nowhere near our best and Southend have matched us for the most part. Pretty sloppy at the back.

We have had over 70% of the ball in this first half, dominant that is. If our passing was a bit sharper we might be out of sight already.

Yes but the lack of quality at the back has nearly cost us two goals.

Decent half that. A bit slack at the back - Cameron John mainly.

Bugger. Portsmouth just scored in the 50th minute of the first half!

the score reflects the positions in the league, individually Southend are playing well but as a team they can't pull it together

If we are to continue playing out from the back then the decision making and execution need to be much much better.

However 2 nil up is not to be sniffed at.

Funny old game, we played better overall in the first half at Sunderland, but that was against a much better side..

Still, two good goals from two of our front men..

I can see Cole coming on for the last 30 mins especially if the score is the same, or more..

yep, it's a perfect scenario, to come on a couple of goals in front for his first game

Just seen the half time stays that say we have won only 25% of tackles .. we do look to be light in them and need to toughen up a bit . Up that stat and we should complete the win for me

On the John/Wright debate - Wright was friends with Jordan Sinnott who was killed in Retford on the weekend, so Joe's mental state may have been a consideration for the selection choice by Darren.

Be good for Cole and watters to get decent time on the pitch if we can stay tight for the next 10-15 min or add another

3-0 out of nothing really.. same patten of sloppy play followed by a moment of quality delivered by Taylor for Sads to head in..
