Post-truth society. Certain MPs have cottoned onto the fact that they can lie about matters of objective truth, and their supporters no longer give a f**k.

By the way, I'm wondering which murderers she reckons would be deterred by a death penalty.

The overwhelming majority of murders are committed in momentary fits of rage, or by people who are psychologically badly damaged. Does she think they would sit down and think "Ooh, now that I may be executed, I'd better not do this."?

Or does she think suicide bombers would be deterred? Or the sort of IRA terrorists who starved themselves to death in prison.

Call a spade a spade. The death penalty is and always has been about revenge.
