If Satdi's ref...
« on February 11, 2020, 10:53:30 pm by BillyStubbsTears »
...had seen the most blatant penalty of the season, we'd be 6th tonight.

As it is, it's entirely in our hands. Wycombe and Ipswich in free-fall. Both to play at the Keepmoat.

Trouble is, the last couple of performances don't feel like those you'd expect from play-off contenders.

No we're not. We have comfortably deserved 7 points over the past week.

Still need to have scored that penalty.

Hopefully we can keep going and keep getting a minimum of 7 points out of 9 could be top 2 if others keep slipping up

BST !
You must be the only one in the ground who doesn’t have his heart in his mouth every game...
We are at times quite calamitous , and not many teams have scored against us without us being quite instrumental in it...lol

Interesting conclusion, when Coventry have picked up 23 points in the last 10 games and are a point behind Peterborough with three matches in hand...

Go on then.

What large dollops of luck have we had, this past three games?

Coventry too. I think it will be two of those three that go up now but it could all change yet.

We are well in the mix for the top six. Plenty of points for us all to take off each other still, and I think our fixture list is actually decent aside from the skew of away fixtures. We are a little bit inconsistent with results and our performances even more so but we feel like a team who could finish anywhere from 4th to 10th.

If Coventry continue their recent form to the end of the season, Peterborough would need to win 11 and draw 1 of their last 12 to pip them. That would mean that Peterborough would have had a run in of
P18 W17 D1 L0.

Peterborough are on a good recent run of form, but they have played a lot more games than most promotion contenders. Both Coventry and Portsmouth in the play off places have a massive three games in hand and would go sailing past Peterborough if they had a decent run here. Actually if we won our games in hand on them then we would be only a point behind.

Good recent form, definitely in the mix, but by no means nailed on for automatic.

I don't think we are good enough on present form to get in to the play offs. However, if the team settles down and we get that strong core playing well again then who knows. Rotherham, Cov and Peterboro look good for top two. Just when Wycombe seem to be dropping off they get a good result, no idea what is happening with Ipswich and I am wary that Sunderland could get on a good run.

If we don't make the play offs this year it isn't a disaster for me.

It is interesting that we have got 7 points from the last 3 games despite not getting out of second gear, against teams at and near the bottom.

Yet we are nowhere near the performances in terms of quality that we saw earlier in the season.  To me that means we still have plenty left in our tank, and that we can up our game between now and the end of the season.

Let’s see what next Saturday brings?

Peterborough had Toney booked last night also - so he is on a 2 game ban...... Chedwyn Evans was also sent off last night, so misses next three.

So did Wycombe & Ipswich a few weeks ago. Plenty of twists and turns before the season end i suspect.

The most wide open League 1 for a very very long time.

Pleased I didn’t miss a classic last night.

Don’t think the positions are particularly comparable - both Ipswich and Wycombe have been in a downturn for weeks. People have been saying for ages that they can’t see Wycombe lasting the pace, and Lambert himself said he wouldn’t be surprised if he was sacked as long ago as Boxing Day!

Both Peterborough and Rotherham have really stepped it up recently. Peterborough have won 6 on the spin scoring 20 goals, and 4 of those games have been against play-off (and title!) hopefuls. Rotherham haven’t been quite so emphatic but have still won 8 from 9. Both teams will have dips in form but at the moment look like they will take some stopping.

Crystal ball required. Who knows. I don’t.

Coventry have three games in hand on second place. I wouldn't rule them out of the top two by any means.

Over the last 3 months they have been the most consistent team.
I think they are a very difficult team to beat. Yes obviously they are because only lost 3 games. Less than anyone.

Definite top 2 possibility but so are about 9 teams.

depends if Toney has already served one for 5 bookings, presume he has unless he has had 5 since new year

It’s 2’games for 10 bookings regardless of an earlier suspension for 5.?

That could be interesting. They've had a good run, but if they stumble for a couple of matches, they could easily slip into the battle for 6th place.

Two tough matches that he's going to miss an all. Away at Fleetwood and Burton.

Toney is banned for two games after 10 yellows.

In the last 7 games we have won 4 agains teams in the bottom 5 and not won any of the others. Don’t get carried away.
