Belles v Long Eaton United
« on February 18, 2020, 07:12:28 pm by BVB »
7.45 ko at Rosso Main tomorrow Weds 19th.
If you’re free come down and support Butler & Buxton in their turnaround of the Belles.

Earlier in the season Long Eaton won the game 2-0 at theirs but they lost this Sunday 3-0 away to Solihull - the Belles thumped Solihull 5-0 in their last home game so hopefully will be able to keep their recent upturn going.

£3 adults £1 kids on the gate..great selection of hot pies in the Rosso bar too.

...and it’s a decent 3-1 win to move them further up the league and away from the bottom 2.
Good attacking wing play and composure on the ball.
Good stuff well done.

It's nice to read positive things about the Belles after the downward spiral of the last few years. Hopefully they can now move forward again.

Winnable game against Leafield Athletic on Sunday and then another winnable one against Khalsa on the following Sunday.... both away from home.  However, these two games are followed on subsequent Sundays by home games against the top two - Wolverhampton and then Birmingham & West Midlands..

Is there no play offs? Should have a decent chance of promotion next season with how they've done recently.

League table here is anyone interested...

Confused by the red colouring for relegation positions - does it mean 2nd and 3rd bottom are both relegated, or in playoffs to avoid relegation?

They are certainly looking far healthier now.

As I understand it, there are no playoffs and the bottom two go down.
At the top I’m sure that only the league winners from each of the 4 regional leagues at Div 1 level (4th tier) are promoted - but this can be further complicated by a) geography - eg will Wolves go into the Northern or Southern Premier (3rd tier) when they win Div 1 Midlands? b) by clubs withdrawing/folding eg Guiseley last year c) and then clubs such as Belles (hopefully) being moved from Midlands Div 1 to Northern Div 1 for next season.
It will be interesting to see what happens on that front as Sheffield FC are looking odds on for relegation from Northern Premier this season - they are geographically further south than Doncaster and so should go into Div 1 Midlands either alongside Belles - or Belles transferred across to Div 1 Northern at Sheffield’s expense..
All very complicated.

Agree that next two away games are very winnable, and next two home games are going to be extremely tough.
Butler & Buxton to win MoM though, and then face Wolves and Birmingham - most likely with
predictable consequences as those two teams are hammering everyone else - just hope Belles can show progression against them.

Yeah, as BVB says, you've got four regional divisions feeding up to two divisions, so only one goes up currently.

Take Wolves out of the equation and the division evens out considerably, and things look very positive for next year.

In terms of switching from Division 1 Midlands to Division 1 North, there's probably two instances of that happening. The first is, as BVB mentions, if Sheffield come down from the tier above. The second is if Crewe win the North West Premier and come up from the division below (they're third at the moment, but have games in hand). Whilst a switch would be good for player recruitment, it might be more of a challenge on the field - as Cup progress by teams in Division 1 North suggests it's broadly a stronger division than Division 1 Midlands.
