When he was first linked with the job I thought it was a poisoned chalice. They  actually over-achieved in the first half of the season but the sales of Grosicki and Bowen have damaged them very seriously.

All managers need good players at their level, he had that here and at the start with Hull.
It was not sustainable to add to that here to improve the squad so when Hull came calling he jumped. We had to rebuild the squad.
He now finds without good Championship players its difficult to win games.

"For whom the bell tolls " would have been a much better title it is after all "blowing" up in his face   ....could say he's "burned" his bridges with Rovers or should we say "blown them up"
