i found this  from October 2010


"Dear Her Majesty's Treasury,

Under the freedom of information act could you please try to answer the following question.

How much money is there in the UK? Could you tell me how much real money (notes,coins) there is. Also how much money is digital (not actually physically existing)? For example with quantitative easing 200billion was created electronically i believe. The BoE didn't actually print real notes it was electronically created."
