What a small world.

In Kings Lynn today with the fella, as usual he's resplendent in a Rovers shirt..

From across the market place he spots something surprisingly familiar..

A fellow Rover.. Wearing a One call shirt....

Blimey, Rovers must be like busses that's all I can say, I've gone months without seeing my one due to covid and then two come along at once....

Back in 1984 I was working on a building site in Wapping, East London. Driving to work one morning I passed a bloke walking down the street wearing one of the old ‘Pilkington Glass’ Rovers shirts! It was very rare to see anyone in a replica shirt at the time, never mind a Rovers one in deepest, darkest East London! Despite keeping an eye out for weeks afterwards I never saw him again!

I like the beach at Crantock better than Fistral Beach, although it can be a pig to get to

Lusty Glaze is the beach we normally go to but it’s currently closed due to COVID and it being fairly small and enclosed. They’ve put some yurts on the beach though which you can stay in but at £1600 for three nights it put us off

I love the name LUSTY Glaze Ian. It sounds like the kind of place to take Ann Widdicombe to.

F*cking hell I'm having those nightmares again.

Just between Crantock and holywell there's an ace beach called "polly joke"
Or as we like to say jolly poke!!
Dunes at Crantock are ace but don't like the mix of waves coming from all angles at certain tides there.
Mawgan Porth is a beaut. Or dare I say it the south coast!!! We live in Charlestown and love North but 75%of the time it's so windy and alot of the time covered in sea mist.
Prefer the calmer sea and better weather knowing that the fun is only 30min away

Polly Joke - was good when I last went there but had a lot of debris washed up on beack

Charlestown - I really liked as well

Then I went to St Austell and was thrown out of Wetherspoons as I had a dog and they were not allowed on the premises (Company policy). I had ordered and got Beer , Cream Tea Wine etc and then said and a Water please. Still or fizzy ? Well its for my Dog so Still please. A dog - no sorry not allowed. I said well I am in the beer garden. Still not allowed and with that the Manageress passed by and asked the staff - is there a problem ?

Yes they said he has a dog. I protested politely but she made them take the whole lot back. Hot tea cold beer, all gone. She said its company policy - so I said ok but you are not that far from Perranporth and there Dogs are allowed in the Beer Garden AND whats more they have posh signs advertising it as a feature (and I wasnt kidding) but she was unmoved

When I checked later she was RIGHT - in that it was Wetherspoons policy NOT to allow dogs on their premises but how they can get it so wrong when 2 Pubs 17 miles apart are operating so differently

Anyway Holywell is brilliant too - and my dog is now 17 so he wont be troubling either Pub again - and neither will I with their recent treatment of their Staff (or make that ex-staff)

I had the same reaction at a Weatherspoons in St Annes. Was so pissed off I told the on duty Gestapo officer that our pedigree Springer Spaniel was better behaved than the majority of their clientele and would lend an air of class to the beer garden.

Totally unmoved they were.

Went to a pub round the corner with no dog issues.

Had a week last year at a very nice touring site between St Austell and Mevagissy, Pentewen Sands, lovely place but forget getting a TV signal there if you have n’t got a dish, luckily I have a dish and watched England win the cricket world cup

Filo can remember you saying that you were going there. Its a picture perfect village and beach. The site is amazing. We use the pool out of season and always recommend it as a place to stay for friends. Did you get over to Charlestown?

Rashleigh Inn Polkerris - what a lovely spot for TTs Landlord

Loved the little cove there and would happily spend a week there and never leave

In addition. though I found it a bit lived in Par Sands / Beach was also a nice spot. Mrs DW to this day still reports on houses Cravans Lodges and building plots in the area lol.

Perranporth Wetherspoons they encourage Dogs into was of course the Green Parrot and I used a further one in Newquay right in the centre  Towan Blystra

All in all auckleyflyer -  I am a fan of Auckley as I caught my first ever fish in Toulson Gravel Pits down Bell Butts Lane - I had a few good nights at The Side Saddle and I am a fan of Auckley Friery but on balance I can see why you are a fan of Charlestown & Cornwall

Hes right Filo - a great ittle place and my suggestion of Polkerris (an even smaller village) is imo a very valid one.

Worth a trip down a twisty road any day and the Pub - neat

Polkerris is beaut, as is Sam's by the beach on there. Good place to hire sup boards and explore. Instead of turning to Polkerris go st on until you come to a farmers car park (50p) then there's a great walk to menabilly and the daymark on gribbin head. Very quiet and nice out that way. And agree if you were at the campsite in Polkerris and never left the village it would still be worth the trip.
I do love it down in St Austell Bay. Glad 90% stay on the North Coast!!

I always remember seeing a rovers flag flying on a pole on the front of a tourer pitched on a small campsite outside of Newquay about 9 years back. the camp site was in a small village heading back towards the main A road, but trying to think of the village name.

I was once wearing a Rovers shirt at Hillsborough and a lad in Carlisle shirt stopped me and we got talking about that years play off final, he was happy that we had won because they had been beat in the semi final but we had won the final.
N.B. Hillsborough N.I. not South Yorkshire
