Season does not actually start for another fortnight. The Blackburn game that is being forced on us will not need or get a full squad of signings. Be surprised if we make more than one signing this week.

I’m working on the basis of having something approaching a competitive squad by the Blackburn game.

Williams
The Brighton lad
Butler

2 attacking loans

You'd imagine the free agent list would be quite fruitful this window .

With many clubs cutting back not only in the UK but across Europe too .

I know it can sound underwhelming but I remember Blackburn signing ex German international Lewis Holtby this way who had a very good season last year .

Huddersfield landed ex Leicester City PL winner Danny Simpson and ex Hull man Frazier Campbell as free agents .

There's going to be plenty of pro footballers across europe looking to get fixed up in my opinion this window and it's something that could bear fruit with some decent research .

I think you’re right Tyke and as the season gets closer, or even underway, players will get more desperate to get signed up so there should be some potential good signings around. The main problem now is the cap which constrains what you can offer if you’ve already got a full squad. The best players will still probably be picked up first but that should still leave plenty suitable for L1. Fortunately Wanderers did their work early so we only need a couple more to finish the squad. Good luck for the coming season.

How many signings do people reckon we'll make this week? I'm gonna go with 3. The two other loanees that are pretty much done and one more permanent.
Which clubs is DM waiting for the ho c bc ahead from ?

Is there a friendly this midweek. Man Utd game postponed because of Blackburn game. So will this game be played on another date before the season starts.

There was one game provisionally scheduled for tomorrow, but I haven't seen that confirmed anywhere. We also had another game provisionally scheduled for the 29th but that won't happen now.

The game tomorrow was also meant to be played away, so before anybody asks we won't be streaming it!

That winning friendlies doesn't count, only losing them apparently.

Friendlies are about fitness, testing trialists and trying new things tactically. Result doesn't matter. I'm sure we'd all rather win on Saturday then a friendly against Rotherham. Then again we won't be fully ready thanks to the EFL allowing the game to be brought forward so I wouldn't slit your wrists if Saturday isn't brilliant.

Yes, but any excuse for a meltdown and throwing toys out of the pram.

Was it an U21 side or something? We tend to announce friendly results.

I don’t think we can really field one side or the other with the numbers we have. Certainly some of the first team played, not seen the full line up others may be better placed to divulge that. Obviously there’s room for improvement ahead of the start of the season. Hard to count this coming Saturday which must be a blow for the club given where we are in squad strength right now.

Seems that the opposition manager didn’t want anything publishing regards the recent secret friendly. Likely didn’t want anyone finding out any trialists they have Id guess. Friendlies are just that, can’t read anything into them.

It was strong DRFC starting eleven Jonathan. Rotherham played the day before against Leicester City in a friendly so split their squad across both fixtures.

I agree, pre season is not about results. I remember the year that Arsenal absolutely trounced Man Utd in the annual season Charity Sheild curtain raiser at Wembley. Played them off the park winning about 5-1 or something and Man Utd then went onto win the treble that season (League, FA Cup & Champions League)
