Rovers vs Ipswich
« on October 20, 2020, 06:03:26 pm by NickDRFC »
Two changes from Saturday - Sims & Smith in for James & Copps. I’m pleased to see Sims start but disappointed to see James out - he was excellent on Saturday and I’d rather he was dropped back to left back rather than the bench.

Looking forward to the game, hope we pick up where we left off on Saturday!

So does DM see Cam John as a better left back than Reece James?

if he does, then he's in a group of one!

I'm a massive fan of Darren as I'm sure virtually all of us are. In respect of Cameron John being a better left back I think his eyes are painted on.

No I don’t think he does, but isn’t James just returning from injury.?  Also he may have picked his 11 with an eye to Ipswich’s players..

We’ll soon find out..

James should have kept his position he played Saturday. Sims in for Taylor and Richards For Gomes. Will the real Okenabirhie turn up tonight.

We need to get used to the idea that Darren picks teams to combat opponents and often will ignore form or things that teams are typically picked on. James was excellent on Saturday and I have no doubt that Darren knows that, he and Reece will have discussed it and the reasons for the team selection will have been laid out.

Do you mean his injury pre-season? He’s started every league game so I don’t think it’s that. It might be a tactical pick for a bit more height at the back, and to be fair John had a good game at LB on Saturday, but there’s no doubt to me that DM sees a different player at LB than the rest of us have seen so far.

Come on Rovers. I've got 4 Ipswich supporting workmates & it will make going in a lot easier tomorrow if we can beat them 😀

Yes Nick.. there’s always a possibility DM thinks he may need a rest.?  I dunno, but with 10 points from our first 5 games the manager is doing something right.. perhaps we will find out his reasons afterwards or even during commentary.?

The camera could do with panning back a bit - it’s moving around too much..

Really poor own goal for me that - the positioning from our defence (mostly because there’s no protection from midfield) lets them completely open us up. Would like to see it again but think Wright could have done better with it as well - often with own goals you think there’s nothing they could do about it but didn’t look that way to me with this one.

Agree 100% I reckon Bursik might have even got to it

Their keeper looks a bit suspect when kicking.
Sims should have done far better.

How many chances did we need then just shoot at the player on the line handles it and it’s a booking at least and a penalty

We're not creating an extra man in midfield. Full backs being cautious to start with. Smith not making space and offering himself enough.

No composure there with that gifted chance!

Missing James making the forward runs and not enough pressure on the keeper or back four

Deffo. Smith being very rigid in his positioning.
