Is the FA cup game going to be played?
« on November 01, 2020, 05:06:15 pm by deebee »
Under the new lockdown rules, our game is off. The FA will decide which teams go through to round 2.!

Nothing on the FA or FA Cup sites about this. This is all they have to say:

We acknowledge the government’s announcement today regarding COVID-19 restrictions and are awaiting further information before we can confirm how this may affect non-elite football across England.

We will communicate any necessary updates in due course.

My understanding was they're being given dispensation to play the games as the FA Cup counts as "elite"?

Is this a question or a statement of fact?  If it’s the latter where has your information come from?

Can't see them postponing the FA cup
Surely counts as elite?

I would imagine the FA Cup is seen as an elite competition so teams below the North/South conference will be able to compete.

It can’t be fact or we would have seen something by now from the FA.

Where are you Deebee? We want to know why you have posted to say it’s off.

The feeling within the NPL is that the round of games on Tuesday will be the last league games these clubs play until December (at the earliest).

FA do have a decision to make, there are 9 FA Cup games featuring 'non-elite' sides, and following Thursday there will likely be no training allowed for these teams, which means should any of these teams progress past first round it runs the risk that these teams will have to either play their second round games without any sort of training or games since the first round, or risk delaying the competition further.

Eliminating these clubs now would also be a disastrous move, as the 4 qualifying rounds have been rushed into the schedule in the last 5 weeks.

My gut feeling is the game will go ahead, and the FA will then assess the 2nd round plan based on how many 'non-elite' progress through. For F.C. United they haven't received any sort of funding from the Government like the NFL has and have only been allowed 600 of their 1000 season ticket holders into every game so they will likely want the game to go ahead for the TV revenue.

It's in my Sunday newspaper. Says as F C United Manchester along with several other lower league teams are not Elite the games will most likely not be allowed. It says the FA have asked the government for clarity but they may have to decide which team goes through

The thread title really should be changed to avoid people seeing it and just believing something that isn't true.

You are all missing the exclamation mark at the end of my post. Just like the front of TV books when it says one of the stars is dead when they aren't. Anyway here is the article

Football and our rugger loving governments means they are just not interested in the game, the small clubs especially as has been apparent over the last six months so even though I see no need for it especially with the much vaunted quick result testing kit that is now supposed to be available and in their words a game changer being supposedly available using the game as an example again would not surprise me so the game being cancelled is a possibility to me until I know differently for sure and see it in black and white.
Football hooliganism still suits their rhetoric although arrests for fighting and drunkenness is much more prevalent in other spectator sports such as horse racing.

Vicar yes it does. The FA cup is not listed in the permitted list and it states the FA are asking if there could be exemptions to allow these games to continue. I read that until such exemptions are granted the games cannot go ahead. Under the present rules, it's off

Where is this list? Where have the FA asked for exemptions? I can't find either...

It would be better to delete the thread rather than you try to justify your OP, like pretending we all missed the exclamation mark that you added to the post this morning, the hole you have dug seems to be getting bigger
