It's A Bugs Life

Apparently, the normal flu vaccine is somewhere between 30-60% reliable. The new coronavirus vaccine is 90% reliable.

If I were a covid19 bug I'd be shitting myself.

Wolfie, maybe meeting up for a pint could happen sooner than we thought. If I remember rightly it's your round.

They reckon it'll go on age preference, starting with those around the 100-year-old mark. Maybe Scawsby Steve can tell us what it's like when he has it done.

I won't have it done at all, unless Wolfie assures me it's OK.

.... and I dont think I will find out.

I used to arrange Flu jabs for people at work and quite a few of them used to get it and be off sick. They advise me every year to have one as I got AF in 2002 but I have always "neshed it"

I have had Pneumonia (once) about 4 years ago and they offer me that and I turn it down and I realise if I do get it I could be in s**t creek but I still "nesh it"

Then Carnivorous Coronavirus (proud of that one) pops up and even bigger pressure for Flu Pnemonia and that one too - but what if so many get it as they do with Flu afater having the jab

I take 6 different Prescription drugs and Beer and I hate to put anything else in there - so I will be under pressure but I may just "risk it"

I’ve had the flu jab for 17 years, never ever been bad with it

Apparently, flu jabs cannot cause flu. People can still get flu after having a flu jab, but that can be because they contract a different strain that isn't covered in the Jab that they've received. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/misconceptions.htm#:~:text=No%2C%20flu%20vaccines%20cannot%20cause,they%20will%20not%20cause%20illness.

All the news reports over the last 2 nights have said that there'll be 2 jabs, 3 weeks apart, and each one will require 15 minutes recovery time. Recovery from what? and how will that work where people are queuing up for the jab?

Are they going to put a load of seats out?

I've had one every year for the last 20years or so.
Never had a problem, or flu. I even had last year's the same day as I had my travel injections for India with no problems.

I've never had flu either before of since I started having flu jabs. If I get it now I'll blame Boris.

Reply to Idler #11 just above

Idler I really admire your bravery on several fronts

Since 2002 I have tried not to put anything in my system other than all the Warfarin and other stuff (making an exception for b-e-e-r only) and so have avoided Flu jab - Pneumonia jab - upcoming Virus jab almost certainly and any place like India (big Country I know) where I might be compromised - so I do genuinely take my hat off to you

It may seem an idiotic stance for me to take as it is (possibly) risking my health whether I do or whether I dont - and I may not live to regret it

Nudga are you in the eligible age or at risk group for having an annual flu jab?

I had the flu jab this year for the first time and got the pneumonia shot at the same time.  Had no adverse reaction at all.  I've had flu once in my life - when I was 20 and never want it again, have never felt so ill in my life.

Asian Flu in 57 or 58 was it

4 of us got that and it was horrendous. Then as now the death toll was worrying but stopped at under 5000 not 50000

Good thing we were young uns and parent would be in 30s so we were in the survivable categories

Pies. Agreed with you about how bad, bad flu is when you have it. I've had it once, when I was 40 and I've never been quite the same since. After having had it, I can well understand how people die from it.

It used to make me laugh (in truth, grit my teeth) when as a supervisor doing return to work interviews, the number of people coming back after two days off having 'had flu'.

Even worse than that, when they ring up and say "I'm full of flu, feel terrible. I'll be back tomorrow."

They probably have the constitution of Donald Trump BB.
Just thought, I'm not sure that he believes in a constitution.

Don't take any drugs at all and have hardly ever been ill. Last time I did was when I had a bad cold with a head full of green gunk, the doctor gave me some antibiotics which lowered my blood pressure that much that I collapsed at work and was taken to hospital. The cure was worse than the illness, so I don't bother now.

Let’s hope it’s distributed as soon as possible to start halting the virus in it’s tracks.
