Kenberne on Sandringham Road, although I'd expect them to say it's not economical to repair and flog you a new one instead

We had this problem last year fridge not chilling.
Phoned a chap (domestic appliance engineer) who advised us to turn it off for a couple of days. This is because sometimes the gasses need to settle down again.
Did as he said and 2 days later fridge worked!
Got another year out of it.
Had to buy one this August as it totally conked out but still worth a try

if I remember correctly it's one of two things, most likely either the thermostat or the compressor wolfie the latter which are normally sealed units and as has already been said not worth repairing, or the thermostat whch can be replaced. Again it's been a while but if you can get your ear close to the thermostat (temp setting knob) and turn it slowly fullly one way and then the other, if you don't hear a click it's probably that. Hopefully someone on OT is more up to date with this stuff.

Thanks for the info to date

I have tried the thermostat (temp control in the fridge) - max to min and back a few times and no clicking at all

Would like to have turned off but the Plug must be behind the unit ! Could also be a hard wire not a plug

Their is normally a filter on the back of the unit if you can get to it take it off and wash it or hoover it as if its blocked it restricts air flow and will not allow the compressor to cool down.

Bit of trivia on Kenberne, the Ken was my uncle Ken Edwards RIP the Berne was Bernie Clifton the guy with the ostrich. Bernie Clifton sold his share of the business to my uncle to go and have a try at being a singer but as we know ended up a comedian radio presenter etc

Cheers Just trying the power off tip from earlier

Then will try that filter cleaning

Wil have to drag the thing out so if someone comes to look it will be easier for them to get to lol

I gladly would but its a 60/40 job and they are hard to find - as Mrs DW wants to get a Frost Free one as well.

OR

Move about 3 things in the Kitchen to fit a seperate Fridge and a seperate Freezer etc.

I am hoping for a miracle with the turning it off for 48 hours lol - or want to find a repair man to maybe regas it

Mine was supposed to be frost-free, but it wasn't. When I rang up to complain they just said: "It is frost-free, we're not charging you for it, are we?"

Not that old tbf. Kitchen probably in 4 years in January - and got the appliances from same place - Mrs DW "lived" with it being frost free but now is insisting on Ff and having a swap round if we cant get this one fixed or replaced to have seperates.

As with most men I suspect I would like a new Frost free Hisense one £290 but its 50/50 - so when opening fridge door with the broken one being a 60/40 it would show a smaller fridge and the top draw of the Freezer and to get to the freezer you would have to open the bottom door and the top door.

It isnt universally popular in out house - and comments like - nobody would accept that have me thinkiing - "I would"

Not sure how consumer law stands in UK atm wolfie but here products have to be 'fit for purpose' despite any guarantee limitations so for me you would expect a ff to last more than 4 years, no? get in touch with the shop and the manufacturers.

I think all electrical equipment gets 6 years under British law for faults and not miss use, I won my case against apple after my phone broke after  2 years and they would not replace it even after their staff said it was electrical

Not sure of the make but it wasn't a cheap one. DW told me it cost him 4 Guineas.
