We seem to be the only club that doesn’t get reaction from the manager on our Twitter page after a game.
It’s only something that’s happened since Moore came, just seems odd to me.
About an hour After every game I can click on our opponents page and see a full interview with their manager, but ours is never there.

I'd rather it was on a website, not twitter.

Twitter is more for acerbic comments from fans than a platform for rational discussion .

Good for you two, but Twitter is a crucial form of fan engagement these days. Not utilising it properly is neglectful.

Twitter is the modern way of communicating unfortunately for those that don’t like it.

It would be interesting to see stats on how many people actually visit a website these days (excluding online ticket purchases)

Just as  easy to listen to his interview on radio Sheffield which is normally up within the hour.

I follow every Rovers game on Flash Scores (for all the latest league one scores), the BBC (for the match stats), Doncaster Rovers site (for the comments), Twitter (for the comments), and the BBC again (for the latest table position) set up over 2 monitors. We use whatever we find reliable and know about.
This post is about Twitter and I don't recall DM saying anything on Twitter.

Isn’t it more important what he says, rather than where or when he says it.?

Isn't it more important to have more places to read/hear what he says?

No..

The message itself is more important than the delivery method..

No..

But if  no one sees/hears the message it is no longer important.

The Club should be using all available avenues when it comes to engagement. Short of the team reaching the premier league this is an easy way to increase the exposure of the football club. Regionally we are in a congested and contested area with 'Big' clubs like Leeds and the Sheffield clubs close by. these clubs are our competitors for the fan base in the town and we need to be better than them to have the same impact.

The message is lost if nobody hears it.

If nobody hears it.?

You mean people who use Twitter and nowt else.?

If I want to see DM’s reactions I’ll look on the club website and the DFP..

Twitter is hardly the only internet info source..

Twitter is probably the primary online platform for this sort of thing nowadays. You may not use it but it is as ubiquitous as any other site.

Regardless, Twitter and the club website go hand in hand because whatever appears on one tends to appear on the other. It's a valid complaint that we no longer get the instant reaction of the manager even though he always does a post-match interview. Radio Sheffield normally put it up late at night in audio form only which shouldn't be the first and only way to hear it.

If jobs have been lost in the media team at the Club as has been suggested then it is inevitable  there is less on social media and the Website.

It never ceases to amaze me that some of our fans always seem to assume that the club know nothing about these things, be it marketing, or the use of social media for promoting upcoming games and spreading the word. It's not so long back that supporters were demanding more advertising on the sides of buses etc.  ;) ;)

But we do employ professionals to do the job, admittedly we are a little short staffed at the moment, but that doesn't stop the club carrying out the research it needs to guide them in the right direction. So, here's a snippet of some of that information that helped the club change direction in the summer;

Website

Audience is 82% Male
Highest demographic is 25-34  (20%)
Lowest demographic is 18-24 (10%)
But in all honesty there isn’t much difference between age groups past the age of 35

NOTES:
18-24’s are the lowest demographic – this age group don’t view websites so we need to reach them in a different way (see note on Facebook)
We obviously clearly need to reach more females.

Facebook Audience (People engaged)
74% Male (Highest demographic across males is 19% 18-24)
26% Female  (equal split in age)

Facebook Audience (People reached)
66% Male
34% Female
24% of all people reached are aged 18-24

NOTES
We reach more females on facebook compared to the website and based on research we know that many females are influencers in their households purchase decisions
We also reach more 18-24 year olds on Facebook compared to the website.

Given this data our strategy is to use Facebook more as a news site as it reaches a wider audience of people than the website.   Often the purpose of Facebook posts are to drive traffic to the website for news or consume the news via the source.

Results

Web traffic
20% direct
35% organic
30% social  of which 63% Facebook, 35% is twitter
This has been a shift has twitter has gone down 6000 users compared to the same period last year, Facebook has gone up 4000 users.     This doesn’t mean twitter has suffered – we are deliberately using it in a different way with less broadcast posts and more posts to target engagement

Twitter  (Last 3 months compared to prevous quarter last year)

Total tweets sent down by 290  (actually it’s down far higher than that as we’ve had more games this quarter compared to last year and games create additional posts via commentary)

Despite less tweets being sent

Impressions up from 9.4m to 11.2m
Engagement up from 2.1% compared to 3.6%
Link clicks up from 33.6k to 34.4k
Likes up from 36.3k to 53.8k
Replies up from 1.9k to 2.7k

Videos viewed up
Up from 573k to 640k
Total minutes viewed up from 88.2k to 139k

And how does this strategy impact web traffic?

Compared to the same period last year
Page views are up 11% and pages per session have also increased.  People are visiting the website and viewing more pages.

Given that across all sports in all countries we have seen fans become less engaged due to the lack of ability to consume live sports this is not an insignificant achievement by the media

I wasn’t suggesting the club don’t know what they’re doing martin.
I was just pointing out every club we play has reaction from the manager on the Twitter account within an hour or so of the game. We used to but now this isn’t the case
