Time to be rid

That’s a bit harsh..

I often disagree with BB in the off topic discussions, but I wouldn’t advocate getting rid - why has he upset you so much.?

There are a lot of people on here with intelligence allergies. You can't blame them for wanting to get rid of me really!

Ah, the 'Royals'.  Another set of unelected bureaucrats.  Wasn't that one of the main reasons people voted to leave the EU?   :turd:

Some of us are proud of the Royal family and what they stand for, and no one will ever change my mind. We could always end up like America,Russia etc with likes of Putin or Trump.

I'm not fussed about the royal family but the economy is a hell of a lot better off from having them than not, through the increased tourism, etc.

They actually stand for psychopathic war lording bullies that are tainted with blood
Nobody was ever born with a crown on their head....it took one man to bully then kill, then keep on killing until it was decided he was the worst most brutal person ........ to lead his similar types to go out and bully and kill others who opposed him and his band of would be lords ....

This is obviously the stripped down unromantic version of our history....so open to debate !

Not Now Kato, like thinking Alfie May would ever be division 1 standard as a striker, getting rid of the royal family has as much chance as you seeing rocking horse poo.

'My dear you are ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly'. He was either addressing the socialist MP Bessie Braddock or the Conservative Lady Astor. There are two versions of the story.

I happen to know this because I have a fondness for Churchillisms. How about "U -Boats are those dastardly villains that sink our ships. Submarines are those brave and glorious craft which sink theirs." Priceless. Utterly priceless. Even my old Dad, a lifelong member of the Labour Party commented, on the death of Sir Winston in January 1965, that the country was a poorer place for his passing.

Cheers

There are a few million dead Indians who would disagree with him Bob.

Churchill may have been a good wordsmith, but he was a right evil bas**rd with much blood on his hands!

Churchill is a funny one. He was a disaster at most of what he touched through most of his career. From sending in troops against striking miners, through the catastrophe of Gallipoli, to the unmitigated economic carnage of putting us back on the Gold Standard when he was Chancellor. He also totally misjudged the move towards independence from Empire across the globe and calling Gandhi a seditious half-naked fakir would have been a career ender for most of subsequent history (prior to the current PM, obviously...)

The one thing he got right was seeing the threat that Hitler was and the fact that we had no option, practically or morally than to fight. In that sense, he was the right man at the right time, and thank God he was. But it doesn't change the record of the rest of his career.
