Being linked with a late JanTran move top PNE for a small fee because we've allowed him to get into the 6 months of his contract. Thoughts?

that there's zero substance in it, aside from a twitter journo after clicks?

Wouldn’t be playing today if he was going anywhere.

For the umpteenth time today there is no substance in this!

And to add, all players agreed to discuss new contracts once the transfer window was out of the way.

I saw it on the BBC not twitter but why wouldn't it be true? He's only 24 and a decent player who could potentially develop into a very good player. For a club like PNE he'd definitely be worth a punt. I can see why it might be an attractive move for Joe. Got to be a pay rise in it, Championship football (or bench warming), not much further to commute if he lives around Leeds, and perhaps he has a really good relationship with Ben Whiteman and may want to reunite with him.

If he hasn't committed to us at this point in his existing contract he's either wanting to see what else is about or rather who might be interested in him, we haven't offered him a new contract or what he wants, or he's already decided he's leaving and running down his contract.

OK but I searched the forum before posting about Joe today, so where have I missed where this was discussed previously?

If it is possible to judge the tone from a replies typed on a forum I'm assuming nobody wants to see Joe leave which suggests others rate him, so why wouldn't someone at PNE rate him? They must've had someone watching Ben Whiteman, he may of mentioned to their gaffer that Joe Wright isn't too bad.

It would be extremely naive to think any of our players wouldn't leave if they were offered more money, football higher up the pyramid or what they considered a better chance to play higher up, a shorter commute, the chance to live closer to family or a partners family, the chance to play for their boyhood club.

IT was said yesterday that the board and players concerned would discuss new contracts next week.

Lazy journalists sign up to every forum in the top 5 divisions and read what the likes of us think and comment about, and then chip in with their own ideas and comments. How many people on here have posted on other teams forums ? I have. They are more likely to be reading the likes of this forum than say Rochdale or Port Vale , all journalists piss in the same pot and have contacts/connections nationwide how do think we get to hear rumours about Sims,Bogle etc

You need to check the rumour mill, that's where all the stories are about Joe.

I'm not suggesting that others don't rate him, but what I am saying is that nobody has made an approach for Joe, no devious enquiries, no phone calls, nothing!

Forget who said this but someone made point when Wright came on to play right back in the play off semi final against Charlton, that playing there was his future. Don't think it was McCann. Maybe a commentator.

Yes he looks comfortable there but to be fair surely he is Butts heir in waiting....

I hope that he doesn't try any of his full back tricks when he goes back to central defence.

To be fair did any of us expect him to lose his place to Butts this season. He was playing very well before his injury. Must admit it is difficult for DM to leave Butts out of the team. He seems to have found a new lease of life and is playing like he did a few years ago.
Joe Wright is definitely a centre back and as well as he has done at RB I think he has a big future at DRFC as a centre back. Butts is 37 and age will catch up with him soon. He is obviously very fit and looks after himself same as Copps. A model professional. A credit to the Club.

Not according to the common tatets at the West Ham game, he is a right back who CAN play centre back!!!!

I think it was GazLaz who said he was the best defender at the club about 18 months ago.

He was probably spot on, and certain others have subsequently raised the bar.

Preston have just sold their centre half (Ben Davies) to Liverpool for £2m. Celtic were also after him.

No wonder they were sniffing after Joe Wright.

One paper says deal is done, BBC say they are still in talks.
Both say Celtic also in the hunt.

I think he probably still is. Anderson and Butler would struggle in the Championship due to mobility. I think Wright could adapt and play there. Often doesn’t stand out as much due to not blocking shots with his face every week but he’s class.

I agree GazLaz, he totally kept Blackburn wingers at bay, and was run seriously hard by their suppose better players, who got nowt out of him. He was fairly progressive at West Ham when he got the chance too.
Tom Anderson got man of the match and loads of plaudits for essentially stopping shots with his feet. (least you can do really) Im not saying he was bad by any stretch, just he got a too much praise for very little. If you had a choice of players from a higher level running at you for 90 mins, or just taking pot shots - which would you take.

I still think Joe is a bit raw though, along with Cameron John, but I feel they are the ones who have a chance of playing in the Championship for a sustained period. Im undecided on Haliday and James, at a higher level, as good as they have been this season, you can't really tell until they play a few games at that level.

If it happens, good luck to him - I don't think it will derail us this season. A shame to lose a promising lad that would/could help us at the next level.
