We've now won 8 and lost 2 of the last 10 in the league. That is some going.

Two teams have picked up 24 points in the last 10 games, us and Oxford. Guess who we play next Saturday? :D

The 3rd most points was Lincoln, Shrewsbury and Crewe with 19 in 10 games.

They did to us what we did to them at the Keepmoat, we looked tired in midfield, James and Haliday were not themselves, and could well need a rest.

Simeos was very poor today, after a couple of promising games, and was chasing the ball.

Madger is back!!! and looked a level above the rest, in a very short cameo.

Not what you would like to watch every week, and I bet the lads are knackered.  We won :scarf:

Lots of good performances. Though Fej looked very tired though. Way off the pace.

Agree. Reece, Brad and Fej looked jaded today.

BUT we won. And how.

Football will smack us in the mouth at some point in the coming weeks just because its football and nothing is ever straight forward after a run like we are on. But my helmet is on and we are on a ride!

Agree about Fej too, anonymous for the most part, not helped by all the wayward passes that he's trying to do his best with, or passes to him that are just about impossible to do anything with. If we want to play off him, or whoever - give them a chance.

I wrote earlier about a wealth of riches in midfield, thinking we have too many - todays showing shows that DM knows he will have to rotate to keep us going.

I think today showed James and Halliday still have plenty to learn in terms of retaining possession, trying to make too many difficult passes when had time on the ball and making the easy pass.

Halliday's first touches let him down occasionally although both players ran themselves into the ground because Lincoln's passing and movement was excellent.

But I think Moore set up not to lose and hope we nicked it.  Hence the defenders in midfield. I think that gave us discipline, they struggled to get in our box and when they did it was back to goal. Most of their shorts were outside the box.

A thought nobody has mentioned but that's been a similar thing in the 3 games we have faced Lincoln.  We won all 3. Good tactics from the manager then? Does he know how to beat them?  We know he changes the approach dependent on who we play.

Having said that we did miss Taylor's pace for an outball (thought simoes was really poor) and the midfield was set up to stifle not retain possession.

We don't need to outplay top teams away and potentially lose.  We've lost to only one team around us all season, that isn't a fluke.

And that is how the British forces didn’t lose Rorkes Drift in the Zulu war. Resolute backs to the wall defending at times and good luck thrown in. Was tough going and tough to watch.

The one venue I’ve been hoping to tick off for what seems like forever!
Looks like I’ll have to wait till next year in the Championship.

I dont think they will go up lol

Whilst it may be a ground you need to tick off, trust me it’s a dump. Plus the away allocation is shocking. Had a crowd been allowed in today, it would not have made gen sale for rovers. It’s 1400-1700 depending on segregation. View is terrible and legroom not much better than Brammall Lane,
Some old school romantics would wax lyrical about its history and location. And blather on about the dam busters and the song the supporters sing linked to this sometimes.  But it’s on the edge of a total mire of an estate, locals call The Maze. Think Moss side, but smaller.
Then there are the locals. Gangs of youths trying to emulate the “glory” days of the Lincoln Transit Elite. They have  had a disproportionality high number of banning orders for some years for a reason.
Lincoln is a hooligan heaven. Fans arriving on the train run the gauntlet on the high st, where most of the match day watering holes are. I’ve been at the station pre and post match before in the thick of mass brawls. Including locals running down the train tracks to attack away fans on the platform. Rovers supporters from the 80’ s will recall trains getting bricked. The locals have not moved on much from this.
Lincoln evokes picture postcard images of the Cathedral, the Brayford Pool and the famous Xmas Market. There is a large contingent of their supporter base though who tarnish this.
I f**king hate the place, and have had some turgid days working there.
There is talk of a new ground for them, which is well overdue. Part of their supporter group is well overdue an overhaul also.
Utterly made up we beat them today.

The first requirement in any competitive game is find a way to win. not always does the best team win a game, but those that lose are usually the first to be forgotten.
Argentina, Italy, and Germany have done it at the highest table in football in the past.
There is nothing easier in football than coming off and saying you deserved better today when you are on the winning side.

Agree with all of that. I also remember being stood on the side terrace once upon a time, penned in almost, and having to put with a barrage of bricks etc from the home support. We were defenceless, and had no way of countering that, resulting in quite a few head injuries.

I dont like to put anything negative on today but seriously what is the fascination with Taylor. I dont get it at all.

Lincoln, as a city, in many parts, is a beautiful place. The castle, the Bailgate, the Uni culture, the history etc. They have an unusually high percentage of utter t**ts though that associate themselves with the football club.
I could write a small book on some of the match day dramas that have unfolded in this unlikeliest of cities.
I was born in donny, I am man and boy donny, but I live in Lincolnshire and am surrounded by Imps. Many of which have jumped on the glory hunting bandwagon of recent years.
My dad speaks of the 70’s when he used to go and watch rovers at sb. My earliest memory of an away day  is my dad taking me to Lincoln to watch rovers. Scary days .   Current Imps fans don’t see rovers as local rivals. Supporters of my generation and older would beg to differ.

In fact, I did some research a few years ago, and I think Lincoln are one of , If not the team we have played the most, competitively, in all competitions. Mainly in the old division 3 and 4.

I had this as a pub quiz question during the first lockdown. Before this season, we had played Rochdale 115 times, one more than Lincoln. It would have been level if we had the chance to play Lincoln away last season.

Currently Rochdale and Lincoln level as most played teams, but we have Rochdale away to play still.

That little bridge at the back near the exit from the away end was always a bottleneck for getting jumped too.

Yep, got caught in the ambush twice there when the Lincoln fans used to come round to our exit before the final whistle and lob bricks over the wall. The plod never used to do anything to stop them gathering there.

Once you got through that then you ran the gauntlet through that alleyway.

Last time I went Lincoln we was in the bottom corner on the side. They had a stand on it own on the other side and was in the process of putting some  in boxes behind one of the goals.

A fantastic result, arguably our best and biggest of the season upto now.  Although focus turns to next week now for another tough game against the joint in form team in the division alongside ourselves.

It wasn’t a great performance to watch today, but it was determined and we managed to somehow come out with the three points. That is all that ultimately matters and that is a sign of a good team.

We were great to watch for most parts on Tuesday and got three points, Today was tough to watch and we still got the same result, three points.

Probably too early to say, but things are looking very very good.

Last time I went to Lincoln I got hit on the head with an old pre-decimal Penny. For those of you who don't know, one of those old Pennies was about the size and weight of an Olympic Discus, but with sharper edges. Luckily, I had no lasting damage but I'll never forget that game at Sincil Bank.

Or was it Valley Parade?......

Or maybe Gigg Lane?

I did hound, and I spent it on 3 pints of Theakstones Young (in them days) Peculiar, a match programme, and fish and chips on the way home.

Yes I did notice both things Stocks.
The first one was probably because Grant had dived to win the pen and Tom was letting him know that cheating hadn’t worked for him after he missed it.

Maybe Joe thought that that one wasn't a penalty either. I don't agree with gratuitous gloating as happened to us at Plymouth a few seasons ago.
A player that has cheated to win or been giving you verbals all game is fair game though. Joe was probably lost in the passion and relief at the miss at that late stage and Scully to be fair to him hadn't been on long enough to cause much agro.

It will be interesting to see how much that game has taken out of Lincoln!
