Black Bank
« on February 02, 2021, 11:02:54 pm by RoverBB »
Hello VSC

As you may have seen, the Black Bank are in the process of relaunching. We have new stewardship and new faces showing a lot of enthusiasm to help the Black Bank return to what it once was.

We are currently running a sticker initiative to try and raise funds for replacing old/damaged/stolen equipment over the years - more details on our Facebook and Twitter pages (Apologies for the Shameless plug)

We are also looking into ways that we could give James Coppinger the send off he deserves with a unique idea already in the pipeline.

Anyway, just wanted to hop on here and get your opinions of the Black Bank, old or new. What you like? What can be improved etc

We don’t consider the few that decide to fight amongst themselves/make the stewards lives hell part of this movement. We cannot police what people decide to do, but these people do not represent us or reflect our views.

Cheers
Black Bank

Personally I think the black bank is a great movement. Every club has that section of fans that are immature and for some reason hate their own stewards, I've always found it a bit strange to be honest.

I think we need something permanent at the stadium that is a dedication to coppinger. Maybe we could fund raise to have an actual statue of him outside? I'm sure if it was widely advertised across doncaster, plenty of people would chip in.

Could we also look at renaming the South stand to "The Cop" or is that too cheesy?

Good stuff and I'm glad the BB is getting a resurgence in interest. Happy to support.

We will need that noisy, vibrant 12th man next season in the Championship!

Are you still to be known as the Black Bank.... or do you have to renounce them and call yourself something else?

Maybe.......

The Peoples Black Bank or the Black Bank of the People , or maybe the Popular People's Black Bank...?

Good to see this, I assume the vindictiveness of a certain few has been eradicated?

Or the “Copp” surely - apologies for being pedantic..

I’ll be interested to see what’s in the pipeline too..

Yep I will happily contribute if you set up a fund but hope you will organise things so that any flags and banners are kept safe in a  clean secure place by the club after each match .

But apart from making a good match day atmosphere, singing, motivating the players, being the 12th man, waving the flags & making the south stand a better place.......what have the black bank ever done for us??!!

Great idea btw!

Well done. Good to hear! We look forward to seeing the Black Bank bouncing again.

Can't let a mindless minority spoil it for the majority who love to show their passion for the game and our beloved club but that has to be built on mutual respect for all our own supporters. Shame there are the odd individuals who attempt to spoil good things.

As said above, the stewards should be our friends not enemies are they are the ones who are there to ensure everyone can enjoy it safely.

And to add a bit more, I take it I’ll be unblocked from the twitter account, that I was blocked from, when I used to be a mod on here, by the vindictive person that was in charge of the account at the time, just for being a mod on a forum

Could we not convince the club to retire the number 26 from the squads number list?? If so you could hang a banner or shirt up like they do in america?

I know thats not really done here but do you really want see anyone else wearing 26????

Coppinger's lad should wear the number 26 - when he's signed on and all that! Lol

The current Twitter handle we are using is @Black_Bank_DRFC. There is currently no one blocked on this account.

I think the East or West stand should be re-named The James Coppinger or The Coppinger Stand leaving Black Bank as it is . The number 26 should not be allocated for a couple of seasons , clubs only retire numbers when players pass away when they are on the playing staff.

Black Bank is not the name of the stand. Black Bank is the name of the group, or movement, of the supporters who wish to generate the atmosphere in that part of the stadium.

That means that anybody who wants to can be a part of the Black Bank.

I've said before recently that some cheesy pun is not befitting of Coppinger's contribution and so The James Coppinger Stand, either South or West, would be more appropriate to me.

Regardless, not sure honours for Copps like that or a statue are what the Black Bank were meaning (if so, fair play!) but rather a big banner or flag to be displayed near the end of the season in what sadly will most likely be empty seats? Something like that I'd definitely  chip in for.

I like the Black Bank, always sit near it but not in it as I like being near the most vocal atmosphere of the crowd, so glad to hear it still plans on being a thing for whenever we get back to the stadium.

All credit to the Black Bank people. However we get criticism in the West and, I believe the East,  for lack of participation and atmosphere. Those of us who do sing, chant, etc. are probably in a minority I agree, but we are equally frustrated with our fellow supporters but we can't make them sing, and if they don't well hey ho. Just remember our voices will add a little so we are there, even if not massively. Just make as much noise as you can and we will reciprocate. I would be honoured to sit in the James Coppinger Stand. And lastly, ok on here it says most retire a number when someone passes on, but Man U still have 7 post-genius George, so not sure where that argument ends up?

I love standing in the black bank. It’s a great initiative and well done and thank you to the people driving this forward. It definitely enhances my match day experience. My boys like it as well

George also regularly wore the number 11.

Is seat 26 in the away end?

And there’ll be a few rows of seat 26
