I've heard the name of a reported interviewee, not on any betting list, but I wouldn't be excited by him. Not going to name him, but at least it's not Steve Evans.

Rovers have kept the list secret, but given there's eight people, the odds of the betting list being totally wrong are unlikely, if only for the fact there is probably a financial crossover between the bookies list and Rovers.

If the mystery man isn't on the bookies list, how can you then say it's unlikely for the bookies list to be wrong? :silly:

I don't think we will be excited by any manager appointed. DM was a complete curve ball and we failed to take advantage of him and the presence he bought with him.

That said I certainly don't think he was right for rovers or the club doncaster model e.g. I can't see any development of our youth team thanks to him only the loan players he bought in like Richards.

Essentially who ever comes in has to build a silk purse out of a cows arse (or whatever that saying is) so I think we need someone with some experience this time would be solidish name in league 1 and not a terrible appointment. Definitely not an exciting one though at this stage

anton123 .

There will be 3 interviews today and 5 next mon / tue ( sure thats what i read somewhere) so thats 8 not as you suggest 6.
Poss Nicky butt and one more then but like I say it’s only my opinion

Nicky Butt is part owner of Salford City, I thought you couldn’t be involved with two clubs, owning one and managing another.

Did NB not have a management role at MU ( albeit U21/U23 or something) at same time as part owning SC.

Scholes was manager of Oldham for a bit wasn't he? Think Salford were in the conference at the time mind.

That is correct but you can’t do it  with 2 league clubs

If he got the job then he would just transfer his shares to the other members until he either left of got sacked.

Heckingbottom not in the frame for our managers job as he is well in the frame for the permanent job at Sheffield United

That might be the case but if he wants to be a manager and doesn't get the sheff utd job, then would he turn it's down if offered?

Not with what he says on the internet as he said he is flattered by interest from other clubs, but he wants to stay in there system

https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/latest-on-interview-process-for-doncaster-rovers-manager-role-3221988

Danny Wilson has/will NOT been interviewed.

That’s reassuring to hear to be honest. And I never expected that he would be when you read about the process.

Interesting that it suggests that hardly any of the names in the betting are in the running. Who does that leave us with as realistic candidates?

The saying is, make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

There is another one that says. "You can put a pig in a frock, but it's still a pig!"

That's "you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. "

I've heard both - the frock one mainly from more senior citizens.

Okay, so I had to check this up. The original was "A hog in armour is still but a hog" and it was first noted in 1732.

Barrack Obama used the lipstick version in a speech, that version probably originated in the early 20th century, with the invention of lipstick. The frock version will just be another variant

Pearls before swine.

What about Emma Hayes? She's been consistently successful with Chelsea and could still win a quadruple this season.

Didn't she turn her nose up when linked to Wimbledon earlier in the season? Saying she was too good for League One.

I wonder if former Motherwell manager has gone for it, Stephan Robinson (I think that's right). Would be a decent appointment

seen he’s gone from nowhere to 12/1

Thats because I know 3 people who have had £20 on him, one of them has had four £20 bets via different accounts.  So that's just 7 £20 bets at 20/1 just that I know off.

It doesn't take much to swing the odds when it comes to this type of market.

I thought I was WC 11th

Edit:-

I was wrong.
Second interview on Thursday then contract negotiations that afternoon... or the following Thursday? Feels like a quick decision made after the second interviews if it’s the same day.

Same day Gaz. I wrote that down when Gavin mentioned it, and in my notes it looks like this;

'Offer and contract negotiations on Thursday afternoon (in theory)'

The' in theory' bit means it could spill over into Friday.

Doesn't necessarily mean it'll be announced that day.
