Just put it on another thread, I would take there Centre Forward if he was interested, 100 goals in 144 apps... Not sure what the money is like over in AUS... Can't see a lot of them wanting to come to sunny England over Australia though!

Liam Hoden has tweeted that Des Buckingham is not in the running.

Not seen his name mentioned much really but I quite liked Paul Tisdale’s Exeter side from a few years ago. Maybe?
But what has he done other than Exeter

Why would people who aren't privy to inside information not take it as a possibility?

It was strange how he mentioned it really....I presumed it was an opinion based on pretty hardened facts.

It was strange how he mentioned it really....I presumed it was an opinion based on pretty hardened facts. SM and I may not have agreed on everything in the past, but I think we have to be grateful here for the link into the club and not start hanging people out for expressing a view or trying to score points off it. I think it’s widely known that Wellens had a bit of a fractious relationship with the club towards the end of his second spell here. He can be an abrasive character but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and we know Wellens still holds an affection for DRFC. Whether his relationship with some individuals at the club is beyond repair would be for the parties involved to determine. An opinion that it might be tricky to envisage is understandable given the characters involved but as we know things can change in life. If they do then it doesn’t mean it’s contrary to anything aired in the past. We’re all fans and everyone’s entitled to a view. Potentially tetchy relationships notwithstanding, Wellens would make a very credible candidate in my opinion. But he’s not on his own. The process clearly still has a distance to run. We’ll all have our views on the successful candidate. And somewhere it’s inevitable that we’ll have to make a sacrifice on what we may consider to be the ideal aspects of character, experience, past records, win ratios, perceptions or all of the above. Otherwise they’d not be coming here. Trust the process, and accept that you can’t please everyone in every way.
Stendel also not in the running.
There is some distance in the odds between Wilson, Wellens and Heckingbottom, and then the rest of them. Odds on anyone beyond these three are very attractive. For someone to be a leading contender beyond this group, their odds are going to have to very dramatically come in now. It is a leap from 7/2 to then 16/1 for the fourth guy named. If you have money on anyone beyond these three above, then you are going to make a killing here as the odds are huge. I’ve got no insight whatsoever but despite his rough edges, the need for someone to come in and read the riot act to this lot plus Wellens having two spells and bringing his kids to the Copps reunion match, does suggest we are not just any old club on his career record. Total guess, but given the other two in that group, I would say Wellens is our next guy.

Haven’t the club said the new manger will need to include Butler either on the coaching staff or as a player. Wellens and Butler came to blows before Wellens left the club in his second spell. Could this potentially be an issue for Wellens getting the job
I wondered if Simon Weaver may have been amongst the applicants. You can see why he’d have needed to defer an interview given Harrogate Town’s involvement in the FA Trophy on Monday.
