Liam Hoden gave Jonh Bostock a 2 in player ratings, never seen lower than a 4 given a player

That’s as much as he’s deserved since he’s been here IMO .

Shocking that he is getting in ahead of Robertson.

Robertson started today and was replaced by Bostock who was on the bench.

Thought Bostock was extremely poor. His passing was inaccurate and his tackling was almost non existent, half hearted at best.

Having said that there was so little movement off the ball he had no one to pass it to most of the time.
The whole team would get a 2 out of 10 from me.  Jones though did nothing wrong and in fact his distribution had more urgency and energy than any of the outfield players.

It was hardly a kick, more a light tap.  But Bostock did make the most of it!

Wow indeed. How did he get 2? I mean what did he actually do to be above 0 or 1. Presumably you get a 1 for entering the field of play so how did he get that 2nd mark?

Listen or read Warnocks book about his opinion of Bostock.

Just watched the post match roundup that Liam does after each game and there is one very frustrated man, saying it as we the fans are seeing it. Well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it.

I'm guessing that's an opinion from when a 29 year old man was 15/16?

Probably something to do with his then-parent club loaning him out a lot.

Just another sh*t signing from DM; and we're lumbered with him for next season.

What if he does well next season under a different manager and when team confidence isn't at rock bottom?

Could have been for the PL quality of scream in that first tackle on him.

I hope I'm wrong as I'm adamant there's a very high calibre player hidden away in John somewhere but I can see him just telling the club to terminate his contract so he can be on his way.

I remember all the fuss and virtual back slapping of DM when Bostock signed for us and that people were looking at his videos a raving about how good he was going to be for us.
I have to admit that I had never heard of him before then and had an open mind with regards to how good he is/was.
On reflection, it isn’t hard to see that he does have lots of ability and on occasion he has played a defence splitting pass but in general he reminds me of Ray Wilkins (but not as good).
More often than not he plays the easy ball but that tends to be a non productive pass either backwards or square.
You can see he has a very good left foot and a good speed of thought but doesn’t seem to want to extend himself for the benefit of the team.
Maybe the right manager might get more from him.

If something's seems too good to be true, it usually is.......I did mention this when he signed on (sorry for blowing my own trumpet). I didn't think we had signed a world beater that's for sure.

He had a couple of good games and I thought we had something, but he has been woeful recently, and getting worse.

Thing is tho: He hadn't played had a club for 8 months prior to us. He hadn't played a game for over a year. He averages a club a season so maybe something in his mindset is wrong. Maybe he is pissed off with looking up and seeing statues in red & white hoops.........

I'm interested to see what he's like after a proper preseason. The talents is there but the fitness isn't. Is the Mindset? I dunno.

For sure he needs better players around him. He needs to play in a system that suits him. Will that happen next season? Chances of him being here next season 50/50 at best.

He’s seems more interested in his social media and YouTube channel, and I bet he’s on £10k a month as well from us

To put the cat firmly among the pigeons, in my view Bostock is by far the most gifted player we've ever had in my 40 years watching the Rovers.  He's shown touches of class, albeit ever so briefly, that show why Barcelona were interested and he's way too good for this level as far as technical ability goes.  I know almost every one of you will argue against that, but give me a chance to explain why I'm saying that without defending him.

Call it intuition, call it experience, call it having a laugh, whatever, but sometimes when you've been watching the game for long enough, there are certain players who just seem to have it.  Not that they do anything with it necessarily, but that they have something about them that stands them above the rest.  I'd never heard of John Bostock, or if I had, I'd since forgotten all about him, but I'll say this:  Even if you knew nothing of his background, that guy has all the signs of an absolute dream of a player at the very highest level.  I hope at least some of you understand where I'm coming from.  I know its not working for him at present despite one or two MOM performances early on and I'll willingly agree that he seems completely uninterested right now.

I'm not sure how to describe why he doesn't make his talent work but there's something that doesn't quite click.  Is it because of the class of players around him? Maybe they aren't up to his reading of the game.  I see a misplaced easy pass and wonder how such a good player doesn't hit it off. Then he does it again. Is he trying too hard?  Is he thinking this is somehow beneath him?  I simply don't know.  But I do know that there's always a reason a player so outstandingly talented fails to make the grade.

I could somehow see him being the problem in the dressing room.  Not because he's a Billy big b*llocks, but because he just has something about him that doesn't fit.  I'd hope that wasn't the case because he seems a nice enough guy on social media - but don't we all?  However, the timing of our downturn in form would fit that very scenario (as would it being simple coincidence).  We all know his history and the answer is there somewhere.

John Bostock, if you're reading this, you know you have talent to burn, you should be a premier league player, its so obvious in how you approach a ball, your balance and stance, you have it in yourself.  So what's wrong?  Why is it not working for you?  Why hasn't it worked for you? I would love you to be the player I see you could be, to show us just how good you can be even for half a dozen matches before some bigger club takes you back where you should be.  Your call John.
