He has been in and around the first team for what 4 or 5 years and never really kicked on... Horton overtook him IMHO and showed a lot more potential

I’m surprised talks are ongoing/agreements haven’t been reached yet - weren’t agreements in place, it was just that they hadn’t been signed? Or was that just the youngsters?

I thought about a month ago there was a Free Press article saying that a few players had verbally agreed - if that wasn’t the youngsters does that mean those players reneged on that verbal agreement given only one senior player has signed a new contract? Or am I misremembering?

I don't read the Free Press so wouldn't know what they said at the time.

But, in terms of contract renewal it was a strange season, both players and club had issues with committing when there was no revenue, and nobody knew if the season was ever going to be completed. Add to that a few players were aiming for the Championship, either with us or with another club. And for that reason some contracts were agreed but nothing had been signed. It was a situation that suited both parties to be fair.

And, if you throw into the mix that players are actually being signed up for less money these days then players wanting Championship salaries on a meagre LG1 budget were always going to be disappointed.

I can't be factual on the situation covering all players unfortunately.

I would have kept Danny Amos. I think he could convert into a midfielder easily. He is good on the ball.

That is not a side that will trouble the top half of the League One table I am afraid. The additional 6-8 players the new manager will bring in will really have to add some value.

I would have kept Amos and got rid of James , his head has been turned, Amos will do better playing as a midfielder than a fullback

We need better than Amos. He's been in the first team picture for 5 years and never kicked on enough. I hope he lands on his feet at a good club but we need a senior left back option and then Horton can be the understudy.

Amos is a nice lad and fun on commentary but neither of those traits help us get up the table.

I believe some have gone over the top with the total decimation of the remaining squad, i know i did!

When you look it again, a good number of those players contributed to a spell of football in the mid season that should of seen us safely in the playoffs and possibly in the top two, that circumstances and the clown from Brum conspired against us is moot.

I think our new manager can add a strong nucleolus to the remaining players and with one or two experienced heads moulded in his own image and with some luck offload some expensive and unwanted failures that were brought in on dubious grounds then we should hit pre season running.

Hopefully James stays, wouldn’t be surprised if someone offers him more money. Bit disappointed with Halliday but he’d definitely gone off the boil, be interested to see how good Seamen is.
