Finding Jack Charlton

Undoubtedly the finest football related TV I have ever seen. But calling it a football programme is like calling The Complete Works of Shakespeare a bit of writing about people from a while back.

It's about history, culture, politics, society, masculinity, fallibility, strength and weakness and the cruel decline of old age.

Just spellbinding.

Will they ever do a documentary called Finding Damien Plessis?

Or Finding Lamine Diatta

I watched this last night following your recommendation BST.

Superb television, brilliantly made and some fascinating insights into the characters featured. Paul McGrath - bloody hell.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I would thoroughly recommend it.

McGrath reflecting on how Charlton looked after him had me in floods of tears, I don't mind admitting.

Yeah, I saw it then.
Brilliant and sad at the same time.
